When you have a loved one serving his country your 4th of July celebration takes on new meaning. Our daughter is able to skype with her Marine husband serving in Afghanistan when he is available and I’ve tried to capture the distinct smile she gets on her face when they are communicating miles apart from each other. This is a close capture but she caught me with my camera so the “look” is a little off…

We love to display the red, white, and blue here at our old house. I always hope to find some new red, white and blue treasures on clearance after the 4th!

Our pulled pork ready to be sauced up for our sandwiches!

Dear was ready to serve up some special red, white and blue drinks!

The best part of our celebrations are the people who join us to eat and enjoy fellowship together.

My sister Lana and her husband Steve were able to walk over and join us.

My dear friends of 26 years and walking buddies here in the Northwest Jody and Jan…

I always love to capture our daughter Katie in photos to post so her husband Andrew can enjoy them from miles away in Afghanistan!

Sisters!

Our dear Northwest friends and family. Thank you for joining us and making our celebration a special treat!

Roses from Jody’s garden…

Now I hope to be able to fall asleep with all the loud fireworks exploding in the skies around us…
Hope you all had a wonderful Independence Day celebration! Blessings!
You guys really know how to celebrate! Happy 4th belated, Ellen… Fun to see you festivities for the big red, white & blue day! I was feeling a little home sick yesterday, missing family & friends back home in the US, so it was so nice so many blog friends stopped by my place… yourself included. :o) Love that photo of your Katie chatting with her husband far away… do get a sense of the specialness… Happy Days ((HUGS))
So glad you had a good time with your friends and family!
It is the morning after~~~~a HUGE fun weekend. GLORY I’m ready for a nap already this morning….praying for all those who have to get going to work today. Looks like such a fun celebration. And I see blankets and jackets out….how about all of you up there turn fans on pointed to the southeast and try and blow some of your cool air our way??? (c: Praying for Andrew and Katie…..just can’t imagine. I’m thankful God can be all that they need. Rest to your body, peace to your spirit….joy for the week!
That looks like a fun day, Ellen! You certainly know how to celebrate! I know something of the waiting and praying that Katie is going through – thinking of her and her Andrew.
How did that work out for you…falling asleep with fireworks exploding around you? It looks like you found the perfect way to celebrate your countries birthday!
Our day was a bit quieter but we celebrated with friends on the patio too. Decor? Lots of blue and white; couldn’t find any red except in a few crimson candy wrappers. Well, you know me…
We fell asleep only because the airconditioner drowned out the neighborhood explosions…that went on till midnight.
Your yard looks so festive! I wish my sister could walk over! I’m driving down there this afternoon to help her pack. Move starts in two weeks.
I declare…your place looked like 4th of July central!
I noticing too how really cute Marine sweethearts are..Katie and my friend’s daughter Amie both have extra special beautiful smiles for their guys.
This is such a beautiful post, Ellen, in every way. I love your red white and blue decor!
Sounds like you had a wonderful day celebrating with family and friends. Your colored theme table looks fantastic…and I can’t wait to make those rice-krispie crisps…for this weekend.
I love how you take photos of Kate, so that Andrew can enjoy them…Great fun!
You Americans sure know how to celebrate and decorate! Very patriotic!
Even “slightly off” that look is precious. YOur photos of your 4th celebration are beautiful….looks like a wonderful day for you all.
What a beautiful celebration!!
Blessings, Debbie
