Looking back over this last week again reminds me that I have so much to be thankful for. On Fridays we join Susanne at Living to Tell the Story with our 5 favorites.
1. Last Friday we went to our son’s open house for his new business. Dave, Jody, Bob and Jan were at the Open House the same time we were so Dave and Jody invited us all over for an impromptu dinner along with my sister Lana and her husband Steve. We had a wonderful time. The photo is from our trip to England in 2006 with Dave, Jody, Bob and Jan. Bob is taking the photo.
2. On Sunday night Dear and I met Bev and Harv for dinner at a local Mexican Restaurant. Bev is part of our Mennonite Girls Can Cook blog. Bev and Harv hosted me while the Mennonite Girls had their summit in Canada. They were in Seattle for the weekend. It was fun to have our husbands meet each other. During the evening we found out that our lives intersected more then we thought with Bev, Harv, one of their sons and DIL and our good old friends Dave and Jody that we had dinner with in #1.
3. Bev was very thoughtful to give me two bundles of beautiful hand made cards that she created. I will really enjoy using them. Thank you Bev!

4. Valentine’s Day was a very nice day around here. I got beautiful red tulips from Dear with a card that really touched my heart. He also decided to cook a Valentine’s Day dinner for us which was wonderful. Steak & asparagus with a Bearnaise sauce, baked potato, and salad with a Persian dressing were on the menu. Katie helped with the salad dressing and sauce. It was all very yummy. After dinner the power went out for a few hours and we enjoyed each others company in the dark with candles and Katie reading to us.
5. All of a sudden it seems too many of my favorite shows are on T.V. again. Survivor started last night and the fun new twist with this show is that my sister Lana knows one of the contestants! We’ll be watching just to see how he does. He’s the nice looking older guy, Steve. Amazing Race starts on Sunday and I’m still watching Top Chef which is down to 6 contestants. Then there’s American Idol. Sheesh! Good thing some of the shows are on demand and we can watch at our convenience.
I’ve started a house cleaning routine on Fridays so I’ll be around to see your favorites later today when I’m sitting with my feet up after my cleaning workout!!
Photobucket replaced all my photos with ugly black and grey boxes and they are holding my photos hostage until I pay them lots of money. I’m slowly going through all my posts and trying to clean them up and replacing some photos. Such a bother.
How fun to share our events eh? I recognize some of those lovely people. I love those shows…It’s fun to start the new season..I’m all in.
It won’t take long anymore and we are all looking forward meeting you with that special man of yours. How many more sleeps?
You are the reality queen…pretty fun to know someone on Survivor. Looks like a glorious week of good friends, old and new, good food and really amazing cards.
mmm… I wonder if the power outage was intentional. 😉 It’s so sweet that your Dear prepared such a lovely dinner for you on Valentine’s Day. Also, those hand-made cards are impressive and such a handsome set. You probably wouldn’t want to use any of them.
What a great week. Those cards are spectacular, how blessed you are to have a friend with such talent and she shares it with you!
I get you on the TV DVRing. There is a lot of that going on here too…American Idol, Survivor and Amazing Race coming up.
Looks like you had a lovely, full week just like mine! Those cards Bev made are beautiful!! She should go into business.
Don’t wear yourself out too much with that aerobic cleaning! 🙂
What a fun week, Ellen. Always love reading your recap of your week. 🙂
Have a blessed weekend.
You have had a very special week! Those cards are beautiful…she must love you a lot!! I SHOULD be cleaning, but I’m playing the grandboy instead! 🙂
You are so blessed to have a hubby that will cook! Being read to by candlelight sounds pretty special, too.
I love the look of those handmade cards!
What a lovely week you’ve had!
I’ll be taking a page from your cleaning story this weekend – it must be something in the air!
Good food. Good friends. Good week! I’ve been enjoying American Idol too, although it breaks my heart when they have to send people home.
What a lovely Valentines dinner your hubby made!
I love all those shows too! How interesting that your sister knows one of the survivors. I count on my PVR to record all those shows and then I watch when I can. So much easier.
Love your fave fives. Beautiful cards from Bev!
What a lovely valentine you had. I wouldn’t mind a power outage during circumstances like that 🙂 The red tulips are so gorgeous! Is that a real butterfly on the card? They’re so beautiful. It’s always wonderful to have good friends and good food together. The combination warms the heart.
What a great week! That dinner table looks yummy enough to eat 🙂
Love those cards!
How wonderful to have a husband to cook for you! I much prefer a meal at home on Valentine’s Day rather than going out.
I love your pictures.
Lucky lady, what a Valentine’s dinner. Very nice pictures. It is always a surprise when you can connect in a few ways. Those are very nice cards you got. Have a great weekend
Looks like a busy and fun week. I like watching American Idol on TV. I really love it this year with the new judges.
It looks like you had a wonderful week with good friends and a good man. Those cards are beautiful, and so was your Valentines day!
