Autumn Begins…

There are some tell tale signs of Autumn around here…

One of the first I notice every year are these great dew dropped spider webs.

Sometimes the creator is centered just right on the web.

We had a party yesterday afternoon to celebrate the Engagement of our daughter Katie and Andrew. It was a last minute open house since Andrew leaves today for his Infantry Training in North Carolina at Camp Lejeune. Twenty of our dear old friends and family came by to celebrate. Some of these dear old friends are only in their twenties, but you understand what I mean by old. When important events like these come about it’s interesting how you appreciate the ones who have been around and connected to your life through the years. It might not be that you see each other regularly anymore but they were there when Katie was born, or at her 5th birthday party, or her 10th birthday party, or at church with you way back when. You’ve kept up with each other over the years and now it’s time to get together again and celebrate another important milestone in life.

Make new friends,
but keep the old.
One is silver,
the other is gold.

We do not know when the wedding will be. We have to wait and see when the military will allow for some days off for Andrew. We are up for the challenge and we’ll get what little we can get done till we have an idea of the time of year we’re planning for. When the date is set we’ll be off and running with a lot of flexibility and we will “Choose Joy” in whatever comes our way! We do get to go dress shopping though~~ whoohoo!

Photobucket replaced all my photos with ugly black and grey boxes and they are holding my photos hostage until I pay them lots of money. Iā€™m slowly going through all my posts and trying to clean them up and replacing some photos. Such a bother.

About Ellen am a wife, mother, baba (grandmother) and a loyal friend. Jesus is my King and my hope is in my future with Him.

  1. That second web is pretty fancy with all that criss-cross work.

Not having a specific date to work towards sounds kinda crazy. But I know you and Katie can pull it off šŸ˜‰

  2. Gorgeous pictures Ellen. I’m always fascinated by these webs, – how do they “throw” out that first strand? Sometimes the distance it covers is 100’s of times the size of the spider. And their strength is phenomonal. I’ve watched the web between my car window and exterior mirror stay intact even while I’m driving freeway speed.

  3. I do miss the spiderwebs of fall that we had down in Texas. Utah spiders: not much dew to spangle their webs so they remain hidden.

Dress shopping: Hold on to your wallet, and hankie too. Something like 95% of girls get the first or second dress that they try on. Don’t try on the most expensive dress “just for fun”!

Katie is so gorgeous, it will be hard to focus on the dress with her radiant smile and eyes to look at.

  4. PS: My son and dil can pull together a full blown wedding in 3 1/2 months while both working full time. I said it couldn’t be done…I was so wrong!

  5. OH such delights await you. I love the spider web photos.. .it was only yesterday that while we drove past our hedge. .I commented on how many there were. . .I’ll have to see if I can get some neat photos too.

  6. Great pictures of the spider webs, but……..I came lookin’ for engagement party pictures!!!! Just luuuuuuv looking at those two….I am so happy for you along with them šŸ˜€

  7. Great photos, happy post! You will have such fun dress-shopping! My daughter has told me that when she’s ready she wants to go to WA to shop for her dress, so I’m counting on you for the research!

  8. Choose joy! I love that……I will make that one of my goals this week. That was a great photo of the web and maker. Dress shopping……what fun! Enjoy!

  9. Best wishes to Katie and Andrew! It will be fun hearing about the plans, the dress shopping and whatever else you are doing with plans for the wedding! This is a joyous occasion to anticipate!
Your spider web photo is beautiful….so perfect…and different than all the rest. Happy Day to you!!

  10. OK, so ignore my email question. Mia and Tim changed their wedding date three times due to Marine Corps assignments. You’ll be Mrs Gumby by the time the wedding is over šŸ™‚

  11. What marvellous photos. Congratulations to your daughter’s engagement. Totally agree with your poem about friends, new and old… somehow that extends to blogging friends too I suppose. šŸ˜‰
