Susanne has flown the coop but she didn’t leave the nest without getting Friday’s Fave Five ready for all of us. Dear is on vacation this week so we headed to Eastern Washington for an overnight on Monday. Our goal was to check out the area our middle son will be moving to later this year. We had a traffic free journey driving through many small towns. Here are five favorite shots from our trip.

We crossed rivers, drove by lakes and saw at least 4 dams on this trip. It was really hot so just seeing the water was a nice relief to the heat. I’d like to do the trip again when it’s cooler and when getting out of the car to walk around and take photos would be more pleasant. Here’s a post with some of the churches we saw.
We’ve had a nice cool down here in Western Washington with some rain expected on Sunday. How are things in your neck of the woods?
Photobucket replaced all my photos with ugly black and grey boxes and they are holding my photos hostage until I pay them lots of money. I’m slowly going through all my posts and trying to clean them up and replacing some photos. Such a bother.

Gorgeous photos as always. I especially like the first one – that is a scene I never tire of…..layers of mountains behind layers of trees.
Speaking of trees….are you getting any of the smoke from the fires in BC? It is so heavy here it has affected visibility and the air smells like a campfire. I can’t imagine what it must be like for those who live near the actual fire! Just wondering if the smoke gets south, at all.
We’ve had a very cool August – more like spring, actually, with temperatures in the 70’s rather than 80’s and 90’s.

Our weather: early morning coastal haze, clearing by midmorning, sunshine the rest of the day. Sunset. Repeat.

Your trip is just the kind of thing Hubby and I like to do: go driving and take scenery shots. God made such a beautiful world! How could anyone believe all this beauty came from a big bang? It had to come from a Creator!

Yay that your son will be closer. If I’m not in a hurry I love little towns like that…so much character. We are roasted, baked and fried to a crackly crunch this summer. But out shopping with a friend yesterday we saw signs that fall will indeed be coming…coats and sweaters!!!! WOO HOO!
Such beautiful photos. We went through Colorado, Utah and New Mexico in the spring and there really is something about the mountains.
I have a google alert for the word Colville so I get lots of interesting sites to check out — like this! Looks like you had good photography weather for your trip here in eastern Washington. It’s like a whole different state when you get east of the Cascades. Drier, longer stretches between towns, fewer people, and any green at this time of year is pretty much pine.

I’m loving the tour down memory lane! Eastern Washington, esp. the Palouse Country is beautiful in the Fall — fields of golden wheat….
Meant to add that layered mountains are one of my favorite things to look at — we’ve been in the Low Country since last February and as we drove into Virginia and saw green rolling hills, I suddenly remembered how much I miss mountains! (They’re really just hills here, nothing like the West, but still, something high in the distance to look at!.
Looks like a beautiful trip, scenery like that is refreshing.
