D-O-N-E ~ Done!!

It is now a confirmed fact that I really am not a crafter. I am not good at anything that takes more then a day to complete. If I can accomplish it in an hour or two or at least within a day I’m a dedicated worker but…if it takes longer I become testy and the joy of the project vanishes out the window!

I was hoping to share my high school scrapbook with my graduating class at our next mini-reunion but it was falling apart and a lot of the memorabilia was escaping. I knew I needed to re-do the whole thing. I bought a lot of those new fangled scrap booking goodies. You know acid free this and that and memory book glue as opposed to Elmers, yada yada yada. What a mess projects are. It took me a couple of weeks and 3 separate trips to Michael’s but I finally am DONE, D-O-N-E done! Yippee. Not a moment too soon either because I was getting ready to just burn the whole thing.

Lots of fun memories. It was amazing to see the prices of movies, shows and food from the late sixties. I think I had enough sugar packets from restaurants to bake a cake with. I decided to slit a little hole in each and empty the sugar out this time around. If anyone runs out of matches just come on over. I have several matchbooks.

I now have a scrapbook that can travel without leaving a trail behind.

I’m really enjoying my nice clean dining table top!

Have a good Tuesday.

Photobucket is holding all my photos that I stored on their site from 2007-2015 hostage replacing them with ugly grey and black boxes and asking for a large ransom to retrieve them. It is a slow process to go through all my posts deleting the ugly boxes.

  1. Your grandchildren will be so glad you did this. And you finished!! I had mom’s scrapbooks and most were beyond saving. Some of her’s were 70 years old. They used to cut up words from magazines and paste them on for the lettering. I had the table and boxes of mess for months until we were having company and I had to stuff the things away.

  2. I cannot believe you still HAD that stuff….Sugar Packets???? U’ve got to be kidding…lol
But how nice it looks and to look at…enjoy your frustrating work 🙂

  3. Oh, Ellen…this is such fun! :o) Look at all your wonderful old keepsakes. I would just love to look at your book! What a great finish with your book… Ah, the Righteous Brothers… I was born in the wrong time! Happy week, my friend ((HUS))

  4. Ellen .. .you still had all that stuff? You deserve a medal for hanging on to it all. I bet it was so fun to see it all again. Your classmates will be thrilled.
Being that I don’t hang on to things. . .much .. .I have two souveniers from my high school days. My annuals .. and my husband.

  5. Wow, that looks like it was a huge project. I’m afraid to take on something of that magnitude. Good for you for taking it on. It sure looks good now holding all those precious memories.

  6. I was hoping you would share some amazing quick-trick for completing the entire scrapbook in one evening or less! But some things just need time and perserverance…way to go. My scotch taped high-school scrapbook…complete with all the sugar packets…is still lying somewhere in the bottom of a box.

    Righteous Brothers…lucky you!

  7. I’m sure all your class mates will appreciate the hard work you put into your memories…It looks great Ellen B.! Scrap booking, that’s one thing I’ve never attempted…well, maybe never ;-O.

I hope you have a lovely Tuesday!!!

    xoxo Cori G.

  9. Oh my goodness you make me laugh! I know exactly what you mean. I am the ‘queen of incomplete’ projects! grin….but this looks terrific! Glad yo spent the time for it!
