Friday’s Fave Five ~ Changes…

It’s Partay time at Susanne’s because this is the 52nd Fave Five! Visit her at Living to Tell the Story to link up with your favorites. Thank you Susanne!!

Changes are afoot in our family. If and when I can share specifics I will. Our middle son is embarking on a new adventure in his life. He is leaving that jackhammer and concrete work behind him. Because of this change things have been buzzing here in Southern California and at our home in the state of Washington. Lots of fun calls, lots of plans, lots of prayers, lots of excitement. So here are my favorites. First three to do with the new adventure and the last three from my week here in So.Cal.

1. A fulfilling achievement for our son.

2. Friends and siblings around him that have been spending all the time they can with him before he leaves on his new journey.

3. Older brother stepping in to take care of what we can’t from miles away.

4. Walking early morning most days with Willow and seeing some fun sights. It really has made a difference to get back into this regular routine. It’s also good because as we huff and puff we share and support each other.

5. Having a day with Dear without any “have tos” except for stopping at a donut shop and feeling like we’re kids again eating a really good donut!

6. Oh yes and my extra fave is very “sweet” indeed. Our Seattle Sounders F.C. won their first trophy by beating D.C. United in the U.S. Open Cup Final on Wednesday night. I watched the game on the soccer channel and was a screaming fan in my condo with my Sounders t-shirt on!

For all of you who live in the U.S. Happy Labor Day weekend to you. Enjoy your extra day off. For everyone else have a great weekend.

Photobucket is holding all my photos that I stored on their site from 2007-2015 hostage replacing them with ugly grey and black boxes and asking for a large ransom to retrieve them. It is a slow process to go through all my posts deleting the ugly boxes.

  1. Oooooo…. I was sO happy for you right up until that number 6! LOL! *DC United Fan here!* LOL! Congrats to the Sounders though! I can be a good sport…. if I have to. 🙂

It sounds like things are changing for the positive in your family. I can relate as two of my kids (well okay one is a kid-in-law) have career changes going on… it is an exciting time! I AM happy for your family!

  2. Lots to be thankful for… And congrats on the win too! I hope all goes well for your son as he embarks on a new chapter in his life–very exciting! Happy weekend to you all ((HUGS))

  3. Exciting news Ellen! I’m sending up a prayer for your boy too.

I admire you and Willow – I need to get going in the walking department. Although I had a nice long walk on the beach yesterday. I guess I can count that eh? It’s so much fun that it doesn’t feel like exercise. Guess that kind of gives away my attitude toward exercise doesn’t it 🙂

Glad you had a fun day with Dear.

    Have a lovely weekend!

  4. Congrats on your team winning! Change can often be scary but it sounds like the changes your family has coming are good and exciting ones. It’s so good he has the support and help of his siblings.

Having a day with no “have tos” is pure bliss.

  5. Yes, these are faves to rave about! Hurray for your son and your whole family for racing around to help and support. I’m wondering if you’ll make a soccer fan out of me…

  6. Wishing your son many blessings on his new adventure!

Walking…talking…good friends…and grabbing a donut…are right up there on my fav-five as well!

  7. There is lots going on in your life….blessings to your son in whatever he is doing!! Friday favs are fun to read….and to know what is high on your list of thanksgiving!

  8. I think our weeks were quite alike. Our son made a life change this week and I had a donut date with my husband as well. Only we had chocolate saffron donuts, I can’t even tell you how good they are!

  9. Life changes can be very exciting! And stressful… but I’m sure your family will rally around each other and be supportive.

I love a day without “have to’s.” It’s been awhile since I had one …

Happy Labor Day to you and yours.

  10. How exciting that yr boy is embarking on something new! And what a blessing that you can count on your older son to step in on your behalf when you can’t be there. Sounds like you did a great job bringing up your kids!

  11. Congratulations to your son!!!
It must be fun going on walks with Willow each morning, I envy you! That donut looks delicious, and seeing deer running around wild and not in a zoo must be wonderful. Have a great week Ellen!
