On Saturday Dear and I went down the coast to Malibu to check out the Malibu Lagoon. It was a drizzly gray day in Southern California but that’s good weather for Dear and I.
Don’t Pelicans look a bit pre-historic to you? I’m thinking Pterodactyl here!
This beautiful white Heron came gliding in. They are always so much fun to watch in flight.
Look at that duck surfing on that board! It was fun to see other critters besides birds, too.
While we were here we also explored the grounds of the Adamson House which is part of the Malibu Lagoon State Park and owned by the state of California. If you ever visit the lagoon make sure you cross the bridge over the lagoon on PCH and visit the house.
Have a great Wednesday everyone and make sure you click over to Susan’s at A Southern DayDreamer to see more of the Oudoor World.
Photobucket is holding all my photos that I stored on their site from 2007-2015 hostage replacing them with ugly grey and black boxes and asking for a large ransom to retrieve them. It is a slow process to go through all my posts deleting the ugly boxes.
Very interesting lawn at the Adamson place! The birds do look like from another time! The colors of the lagoon grass against the water is worthy of a painting!!
What a great outdoor post, Ellen! I especially like the Heron in flight shots!
Have a lovely evening.
oh Ellen, what great photos and I love seeing Malibu through your eyes.
I love the herons and particularly love you photo of the two together standing in the pond.
Beautiful post and very interesting…
The beauty of everything is breathtaking!
Ellen .. those are amazing shots. I love the lawn of the Adamson House.. love the stones throughout the lawn.
Hugs,
Debbie

Some of those shots are quite extraordinary. It’s always nice to see an area through another’s eyes.
Thanks for sharing this…, it’s wonderful to think of Malibu like this. I just love nature, water, the sea…, and I never get to watch Pelicans here in New England…, and the Adamson house so classy CA.
Oh my goodness! 🙂 I think you must have gotten the same pelican in your shot as i did mine.
Yes they are such fun creatures.
Thanks for sharing.

You always visit such beautiful places. This is just stunning in its beauty. I love the duck on the “surf board”. Thanks so much for taking us along for the visit.

The June gloom of the sky sets a mood for these shots. It seems like a “lagoon” should have a sky like that. I love the heron collage and those pelicans in flight do have a unique look .
Thanks for the beautiful, and peaceful, photos. We have marshland similar here in s. Alabama. What a house! That intrigues.

Hi Ellen, You’ve got some great wildlife shots. I’ve never been to that house in Malibu, I’m going to check it out!
What gorgeous photos of a very scenic place. Yes, they do look rather prehistoric, don’t they? But the view, wow!
Brenda
stunning photos… each and every one of them!
What a fun outing! I love the brown pelicans and, yes, I’ve always thought they looked prehistoric too! Drizzly days always make the greens pop in photos. Just lovely.
What fantastic pictures ! love your collages. Malibu Lagoon looks fantastic even under cloudy skies.

Wow Ellen, those are some great mosaics of the birds. I always thought pelicans had a prehistoric look too. Those other critters were just too cute and the colors are just magnificent in your photos.
