ABC’s of the Word ~ John 14:1-4

Because we are on the letter X this week we were given the go ahead to post one of our favorite verses, or passages. When I was in the 4th grade I memorized John 14: 1-3 and it has always stuck with me and been an encouragement to me. Because I memorized this in the King James Version all those 50 years ago, I’m sharing it in that version here today and adding verse 4! Now just so you know I did find a lot of verses in the Book of Esther with King Xerxes in them so there are X verses :0)

John 14:1-4 (King James Version)

Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know.

  1. That is so funny—there are indeed X words….but I still think this is more fun. 🙂 I’m looking forward to the personal verses and the why’s behind them. “and you know the way where I am going”…I love that.

  2. Oh, Ellen! That was Jake’s first Bible verse! He memorized it when he was about 4. This is how he said it:

In my Father’s house are many mansions if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to repair a place for you.

Thanks for the happy memory this morning! : D

  3. This is the very “thoughts” that my Mom spoke back to me when I led her to the Lord, about a week before He came to take her home with Him. She asked…Yolanda, will I have my own place? Yes…He says He goes to prepare a place for you and for me…because we BELIEVE.

  4. I love that verse…and King James is always my preferred. I didn’t find much in the line of X either…extra special verses was a great plan.

  5. Oh I love this scripture! I always wonder what is it going to be like…the colors, textures, smells, and when I finally make it there non of that will matter because it will only be about Jesus.
Have a wonderful day Ellen B.

  6. Oh, I love this verse!! Makes me stop and imagine, too–all the wonders that we will share in Heaven!!

Thanks for stopping by and visiting me!!

  7. Blessings Ellen…What a beautiful MANSION & great memorization of John 14:1-3 with the addition of 4! EX-cellent and not for Xerxes but for YOU & the KING of kings! This verse gives and gave me great comfort when my family members left this earthly kingdom for their heavenly home! I don’t think it would look like this but we can only imagine!

I will rest in Him and no longer allow my heart to be troubled! May you do the same! Thanks for your visit and “X-alting “with me whether in life or death! Your verses are very encouraging!

  8. Ellen, again, this is so timely. My son who’s miles away in college is desparately looking for accomodation for next year; and I’ve been stressed out because of the housing crunch he’s facing. What a comfort to be reminded of this verse! The Lord will prepare.
