Snowy Seattle or Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride…

On Christmas morning at 7:00 A.M. we left rainy Southern California and arrived in Seattle to this. We had to trudge through the snow with our luggage. When we got inside we found out (much to our dismay) that the power was out!

We lit some candles and Katie pulled out her Christmas gift from the Bagdanov family gathering on Christmas Eve and made us …

some tea to help warm us up so we could relax and enjoy the snowy scenes.

The power came back on just as we were leaving to have Christmas dinner with the Spiro Family and friends. The freeways were clear but the side roads getting into neighborhoods made for quite a wild ride!! The gathering at the Spiro home was wonderful as usual. Good food, good friends, good fellowship!

I will be posting some photos from our Christmas celebration in California later. Today we had to shop and clean and plan for our little family Christmas tomorrow morning and then Katie’s 23rd birthday dinner tomorrow evening. The fun just never stops.

Come Sunday I’ll have time again to crash and recuperate and do some blogging. Trusting you all had a wonderful Christmas!

  1. Truly the fun never stops for you Ellen. I love that you got to experience a snowy Christmas as well as your California Christmas. I am amazed you were able to land in the weather. . .up here not much was coming or going. . .
Enjoy the next few days. . .and now rain in Seattle too.

  2. Happy Birthday Katie!

I had no idea you were in Washington. You must be on a wild ride, but I hope you’re having a wonderful time…everything looks so beautiful and Christmasy

  3. Ellen,
Welcome back to snowy Seattle! Beautiful but darn it, we would like it better if it bypassed the roads! Hope you guys enjoy your time here the next few weeks. Like you, we were eternally grateful that the “kids” all made it down to California for your family gathering. Life is precious and so short, a gathering like that with your parents so rare, it was wonderful for all of you.

A belated Merry Christmas to you and dear and all your family. We are all certainly blessed to have such precious children, aren’t we? Enjoy.

  4. Hi Ellen,

That is A LOT of snow! I am glad to hear that you made it back safely to WA! Our Christmas was slow-paced and relaxing — we really enjoyed it.

Katie is just the sweetest daughter. Please wish her a Blessed Birthday for me.

I hope the rest of your stay in WA would be memorable and fun. When are you heading back to CA?

(Also, when you get a moment, would you mind emailing me your mailing address? That way I can send you a birth announcement — won’t be long now…)

  5. Well, looks like a good time was had by all, eh?

Lucky everyone with the snow…I am so jealous, with our hot summer temps , Christmas is never the same as yours…oh well!

    Annie

  6. I don’t know how I missed it but I didn’t realize you were going to WA on Christmas Day. What a welcome home! I bet your house was cold with no power!
