We took an early morning walk at Emma Wood State Beach on Saturday morning where we found some Ruby and then we headed South to Huntington Beach for a family gathering and found more Ruby at the Huntington Beach City Pier.
Emma Wood State Beach. This wild ground cover is a shade of Ruby this time of year.
One of the State Beach Campers taking 3 dogs out for their morning stroll. He had to stop and explain to us that not all the dogs were his…
The building at the end of the Huntington Beach City Pier is donning some Ruby, too.
The Prickly Pear Cactus is blooming in Southern California right now, too, with these interesting Ruby bulbs. The top right photo are some roses.

Photobucket is holding all my photos that I posted on my blog from 2007-2015 hostage and replaced them with big black and grey boxes with threats. So discouraging…as I’m slowly trying to clean up thousands of posts!
Very interesting cactus bulbs indeed, Ellen. You have to pardon my ignorance, but I never even knew cacti actually BLOOM! That’s simply amazing…
What…am I Rip Van Winkle? It is Tuesday? Where are you?!!!!
Nice pics…I WANT to be there! lovely
The pavilion at the end of the pier has that red on the roof that entices you to stop by and spend $…the red probably shows up in the foggy mist, too!
Love the piers, reminds me as a kid vacationing in Atlantic City (pre-casino that is!), where the rides and diving horses were!
Nice shots all, but I especially like the guy in the red t-shirt out with his dogs. That one speaks to the dog lover in me… just doesn’t get any better than that.
Those were some great shots for Ruby Tuesday, especially the prickly pear cactus. Nice photography have a great Ruby Tuesday.
Wow! Very nice photos. Happy Ruby Tuesday!
Paz
Those prickly pear cacti are really interesting! And so…ruby!
Beautiful photos. I especially like the shade of red in that ground cover. And the beach shots have a hazy, autumn feel to them. Lovely.
I always like to come to to your blog on these photo meme days to see what you’ve posted. It’s usually a surprise, and always something interesting. This Ruby Tuesday post is no exception.
Still looks like summer where you are, wheras it’s beginning to look a lot like fall where I live. 😉
I like your beaches, red shirts and red rooves. I’d like to be walking there with Adi and Katrin, it is sooooo pretty.
..
BTW, the beach scene is similar to our Galveston beaches except we would have more people in the water. Our water temp is in the 70’s. 🙂
..
Wrong link above, this one is where I do Ruby (Red) Tuesdays. 🙂
..

Great photos. I especially love the reddish ground cover at top. Whenever subtle shades of red show up in nature, I find it exciting.

The sabras look so pretty. We have loads here too, but I haven’t seen that they’re blooming now.
I bed he put this “ruby” T-shirt on on purpose, lol ! Nice ruby collection !
You found a lot of red this weekend. I have never seen so many blooms on a cactus before. Happy TT!
Oh very nice shots. I love the one with the dock, very nice!
This time of year produces some awesome colours and shades of red! Nice photos.
Love the shot of the pier. Your beach is really wide and flat!

Really wonderful finds!
The first shot is beautifully captured and I love the pier image as well.
Have a great Ruby Tuesday.
All great shots!
the dog walker is my favorite, something so solitary and sweet about it
Isn’t it great how just a touch of red brings such happiness to any picture? Lovely shots and looks like you had a lovely walk.
Dear ellen b,
I so would have liked to join you on your beach-walk.
Mmm. Beaches are best places to be, especially those with a boardwalk.
I only know cactus from indoor pots, They are intriguing beauties.
Yours were of a special quality.

The beach looks so inviting.
I like the pier shot, like my husband (Ralph) does. It reminds us both of Atlantic City. I was there once as a child, he was there many times!
The prickly pear cactus photos and the red roses are very lovely.
Happy Belated Ruby Tuesday!
