Bridging The Gap ~ Photo Challenge

Alice from Iwasborn2cree8 is hosting this challenge. Here’s what she says ~

“This Photo Challenge is BRIDGING THE GAP. The idea is to post photos you’ve taken, or you are in, showing a bridge. Tell us something about the bridge, and/or what was happening when you took the photo. Of course, link back here, and leave a message, so we can all come have a look at what you’ve left for us.”

Here’s my first entry…

This is the bridge you cross traveling South on Interstate 5 from the State of Washington to the State of Oregon. More specifically from Vancouver, Wa. to Portland, Oregon. My husband and I travelled from Seattle to the Los Angeles area a couple Saturdays ago. This bridge crosses the Columbia River. This crossing comes about 3 hours into our 17 hour journey :0)

Photobucket is holding all my photos from 2007-2015 hostage on their site and have replaced my photos with black and grey boxes of ugliness. I’m slowly deleting those boxes from my blog and trying to update so many posts, very frustrating.

  1. I haven’t ever been on that bridge and it’s very interesting to me to see the structure. There is something about bridges that is so romantic to me whether it’s an enormous one or a small footbridge.

  2. Hi Ellen, The bridge you show is ready for a huge change..if the two States ever decide how many billions a new bridge is going to cost, who pays for it and when the building begins!
I’m visiting a cousin in Toronto! I am very excited to go and hopefully there is at least a trip to Victoria in the near future!! Much of my family is in the wonderful country North of us.

  3. Great Job, Ellen!! This is a really good choice for Day 1! I bet you’re glad now that you took this photo as you drove across the bridge on your holiday, haha. Sounds like a wonderful trip too.

  4. Wow – that’s a magnificent-looking bridge! I love crossing a bridge, I don’t know why. I always get excited whenever we cross the bridge that goes over the Mississippi in the Heartland! 🙂

Hope you had a great Sunday.

  5. Oh, I know that bridge well!

My dad used to cross the old Interstate Bridge twice every day going to and coming from work. We lived on the Oregon side and he worked on the Washington side of the Columbia River.

Great photo that gave me a great memory.

  6. Great picture Ellen!
I have to smile at it. I have one very similar to this I’ll be posting on Friday. Mine even has a bridge beside it as well. 🙂
Nice to see you here in the challenge.

  7. I know this bridge well! I spent many summers in my young life in Portland at my Aunts, so I would travel cross this bridge twice every summer (there and back). Then, as an adult, I lived 7 years in the Portland metro-area. Since my hometown is in Idaho, that meant again traveling back and forth. It’s been a few years since I’ve seen this bridge. Thanks for sharing.

  8. I remember this bridge! But my favorite is the one from Astoria, Oregon heading north to Washington, over the river….fantastic! Have you traveled that bridge? I’m so very sorry I was doing the driving at the time and CT was snoozing, so I could not get any photos. Maybe next time…
