WW ~ Blue Angels and Vapor Trails in Seattle

For more Wordless cick here.

Photobucket is holding all my photos from 2007-2015 hostage on their site and have replaced my photos with black and grey boxes of ugliness. I’m slowly deleting those boxes from my blog and trying to update so many posts, very frustrating.

  1. This past weekend was Seafair in Seattle. The Blue Angels were practicing over Lake Washington to get ready for their big show and I decided to try to get a peek and get some shots. Hard to do with my little digital camera. It was fun nevertheless! Happy Wordless everyone!

  2. I love the Blue Angels! I’ve been watching them whenever I can since I was in grade school (too long ago). Very cool that you got to see them practice!

  3. Good morning, Ellen! I LOVE the Blue Angels!!!! I am always so impressed by the skills of the pilots to do the different manuevers — and I absolutely love the engine noise!!!

  4. Hi Ellen,

It’s me again. Yes, the dishes are Russian. The pattern is Guipure (a type of lace) by Lomonosov. I had always thought they were simply arches of some sort, until I did a search on the word Guipure. Sure enough, after learning about the Guipure lace, I went back to look at the pattern — they are patterned after the loops and knots of lace! Amazing.

  5. Hi Ellen, Happy Ruby (Red) Tuesday Wordless Wednesday! I have both up like you do–both have our dogs, new and old ones.
I would have said this is smoke pollution and vapor trails would be high in the sky where they are beautiful? I can see I should learn more about vapor trails and jet smoke trails. 🙂
    ..

  6. You got some good shots of the blue angels and their vapor trail. I like all the different shades of blue which go so well with the blue angels. I find air performances so amazing. Even the fighter planes I occasionally spot on the way to the beach that appear to be putting on a show, even when they aren’t, are incredible.

  7. Cool shots Ellen. When they have been here and practice they just fly over the neighborhoods. You hear them but can only catch glimpses. Over the water is great! Bill got some good photos one time of them flying around the Golden Gate bridge.

  8. I love the Blue Angels and the Thunderbirds! I’ve seen them both many times. I’ve always lived within 1-3 miles of an Air Force Base and go to as many air shows as I can! Your camera caught them quite well, Ellen!

  9. A number of years ago we were visiting our son in his apartment at SeaFair time, and they came by. I think they came between his window and the building across the alley.

Of course, not really, but it sure sounded like it.

Last summer we went on an Alaska cruise out of Seattle. As we came from Eastern Washington into Seattle to get to our terminal, we found the I-90 Bridge closed becasuse of the Blue Angels’ SeaFair performances. We had to go all the way around through Renton to get to the waterfront.
