The Fountain ~ by James Russell Lowell

The Fountain
~
Into the sunshine,
Full of the light,
Leaping and flashing
From morn till night!

Into the moonlight,
Whiter than snow,
Waving so flower-like
When the winds blow

Into the starlight
Rushing in spray,
Happy at midnight
Happy by day!

Ever in motion,
Blithesome and cheery
Still climbing heavenward,
Never aweary;

Glad of all weathers,
Still seeming best,
Upward and downward
Motion thy rest;

Full of a nature
Nothing can tame,
Changed every moment,
Ever the same;

Ceaseless aspiring,
Ceaseless content,
Darkness or sunshine
Thy element;

Glorious fountain!
Let my heart be
Fresh, changeful, constant,
Upward like thee!

Photos from the University of Washington, Seattle, Washington and from the Historical Olivas Adobe in Ventura, California.

Hope your hearts are content and looking up today! Happy Friday to all!

Photobucket is holding all my photos from 2007-2015 hostage on their site and have replaced my photos with black and grey boxes of ugliness. I’m slowly deleting those boxes from my blog and trying to update so many posts, very frustrating.

  1. STILL not clear. I didn’t mean “take it” as in take it from someone else. I meant take that picture by snapping it with your very own finger on your very own camera.

    There. I need to go back to bed this morning or something. (step away from the keyboard. . .)

  2. Good morning Ellen B.,
    How funny it Kim. I just assume that all the photos on your blog are taken by you, but now I ‘m curious…”did you take it?” Hee hee. The poem is beautiful. It should be symbolic of our lives toward the Lord.
    I hope you have a blessed day.

  3. Ha! Kim,
    have you had your Java yet girl? :0)

    Yes dear ladies. I take the majority of the photos posted on my blog all by my lonesome. If I didn’t take the photo I usually will leave a disclaimer or give credit to the photographer.

    Me and my digital go everywhere together :0)

  4. I am amazed, not only with the great shot, (and you have many, many great shots) but also about how often you go to really wonderful places. I want to come visit Seattle solely because of the glimpse you give us through your photos.

    I really need to get out more. . .

    (and take my camera with me!)

  5. Awwww – love the pictures!

    I thought of the verses in John 4:13-14 —
    “Jesus answered, ‘Everyone who drinks this water I give him will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life”.

    Have a blessed Sunday. Can’t wait to see which hymn you will be posting!
