Thursday Summertime Bible Verse Challenge

Two more Thursdays in July. Looking forward to read the Bible Verse/Verses you choose to share this week.

Exodus 15:2:

The Lord is my strength and my song,
    and he has become my salvation;
this is my God, and I will praise him,
my father’s God, and I will exalt him.

From Maristella:

“That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.”
2 Corinthians 12:10

From Vera:

“And you were dead in the trespasses and sins in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience— among whom we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the body and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind. But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved— and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.”
‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭2:1-10‬ ‭ESV‬

From HappyOne (Karen):

Isaiah 41:13 KJV
For I the Lord thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, fear not: I will help thee.

Post-Op Skies

After a long day in Spokane for my Cataract surgery and follow-up we saw this tell-tale sky view as we approached downtown Colville. Later at home we learned that a new fire broke out in the small community of Rice between us and the Columbia River. Our fire fighters are having a rough fire season. This is one of those years where we talk about our 5th season.

My left eye is doing well after surgery. Now that I can’t wear my corrective eyeglasses we had to pick up some readers from Costco so I could see things close up. Distance is amazing and from about arms length on is great but I need help with reading. Once everything is all healed up they’ll check my eyes to get a good corrective reading for the adjustments I’ll need to my reading, phone and computer time.

Thank you to all who prayed and left encouraging comments for me about my latest surgery.

1 Corinthians 2:9

But as it is written: “Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man the things which God hath prepared for them that love Him.”

Thursday Summertime Bible Verse Challenge

Halfway through July already.  It’s time again for our Thursday Bible Verse Challenge. Choose any verse you would like to share from the Bible and leave it in the comments. I will add it below. Thank you in advance for sharing here.

Matthew 7:13-14 (ESV):

Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few.

I’m reading 1 Corinthians during this month and chapters 1-4 each day for 2 weeks. “Repetition is the mother of learning.” Here are a few verses that I’ve underlined.

1 Corinthians 1:9:

God is faithful, by whom you were called into the fellowship of his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.

1 Corinthians 1:25:

For the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men.

1 Corinthians 2:12:

Now we have received not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might understand the things freely given us by God.

From Mildred:

Isaiah 41:13

“For I, the LORD your God, hold your right hand; it is I who say to you, ‘Fear not, I am the one who helps you.’”

From Karen:

Isaiah 5:20-21:

20 Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! 21 Woe unto them that are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight!

From Vera:

‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭1:15-23‬ ‭ESV‬‬:

“For this reason, because I have heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love toward all the saints, I do not cease to give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers, that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of him, having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope to which he has called you, what are the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and what is the immeasurable greatness of his power toward us who believe, according to the working of his great might that he worked in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly places, far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and above every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the one to come. And he put all things under his feet and gave him as head over all things to the church, which is his body, the fullness of him who fills all in all.”

From Maristella:

2 Timothy 1:9

“He has saved us and called us to a holy life—not because of anything we have done but because of his own purpose and grace. This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time.”

Summertime Bible Verse Challenge

I’ve moved on from Romans to 1 Corinthians in my daily readings so today I’m sharing several verses from my concentrated time in the Book of Romans. Share your verse/verses from anywhere in the Bible and I will add them below.

Romans 1:16,17:

For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith for faith, as it is written, “The righteous shall live by faith.”

Romans 5:10,11:

For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, now that we are reconciled, shall we be saved by his life. More than that, we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation.

Romans 6:6:

We know that our old self was crucified with him in order that the body of sin might be brought to nothing, so that we would no longer be enslaved to sin.

Romans 6:17,18:

But thanks be to God, that you who were once slaves of sin have become obedient from the heart to the standard of teaching to which you were committed, and having been set free from sin, have become slaves of righteousness.

Romans 6:23:

For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Romans 8:11:

If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you.

Romans 8:26:

Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. for we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words.

Romans 10:9,10:

…if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.

Romans 15:4:

For whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction, that through endurance and through the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.

Romans 15:13:

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.

From TCKK:

Galatians 5:22-23:

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.

From Vera:

‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭1:3-10‬ (‭ESV‬‬):

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places, even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him. In love he predestined us for adoption to himself as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will, to the praise of his glorious grace, with which he has blessed us in the Beloved. In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace, which he lavished upon us, in all wisdom and insight making known to us the mystery of his will, according to his purpose, which he set forth in Christ as a plan for the fullness of time, to unite all things in him, things in heaven and things on earth.”

From Karen (HappyOne):

Philippians 4:13:

I can do all things through Christ who strenghteneth me.

From Maristella:

Ephesians 4:26-27:

“In your anger do not sin”: Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, and do not give the devil a foothold.”

‭‭From Barb:

Psalm 6:9:

The Lord has heard my supplication: The Lord will receive my prayer.

Summertime Bible Verse Challenge

Since summertime can be a busy or less organized time of the year for some our Thursday Bible Verse Challenge will be open to any verse or verses from any Book of the Bible. As you study choose a verse or section that you’d like to share with us. Leave your verses in the comment section and I will add them below. Keep reading, keep studying, keep following Jesus and depending on the Holy Spirit to guide you and illumine the Word.

I’m just finishing up my daily reading of the Book of Romans and choosing the next Book to read for the month of July.

Romans 11:33-36 (ESV)

33 Oh, the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his judgments and how inscrutable his ways!

34 “For who has known the mind of the Lord,
or who has been his counselor?”
35 “Or who has given a gift to him
    that he might be repaid?”

36 For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be glory forever. Amen.

From Patricia:

Joshua 1:9 Be strong and courageous; do not be frightened and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

From Linda P:

Galatians 2. 20

I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live but Christ lives in me and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God who loved me and gave Himself for me.

From Maristella:

“Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.”
James 5:16

June is moving along and our Psalms Bible Verse Challenge is too. If you have a Psalm to share, a verse or section of verses please leave them in the comments and I will add them here below. I have an eye appointment in Spokane at 8:20am today so I’ll be late in adding your verses below.

Psalm 40:4:

Blessed is the man who makes the Lord his trust,
who does not turn to the proud,
to those who go astray after a lie!
You have multiplied, O Lord my God,
your wondrous deeds and your thoughts toward us;
none can compare with you!
I will proclaim and tell of them
yet they are more than can be told.

From Vera:

“Deal bountifully with your servant, that I may live and keep your word. Open my eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of your law.”
‭‭Psalm‬ ‭119:17-18‬ ‭ESV‬‬

From Maristella:

“My flesh and my heart may fail,
but God is the strength of my heart
and my portion forever.”
Psalm 73:26

Thursday Bible Verse Challenge ~ The Psalms

Here it is Thursday again and time for the Bible Verse Challenge. Share any verse/verses/section from The Psalms in the comments and I will add them below.

Psalm 119:33-37 (ESV)

Teach me, O Lord, the way of your statutes; and I will keep it to the end.
Give me understanding, that I may keep your law and observe it with my whole heart.
Lead me in the path of your commandments, for I delight in it.
Incline my heart to your testimonies, and not to selfish gain!
Turn my eyes from looking at worthless things; and give me life in your ways.

From Vera:

“Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. Cast me not away from your presence, and take not your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and uphold me with a willing spirit.”
‭‭Psalm‬ ‭51:10-12‬ ‭ESV‬‬

From Cheryl:

“It is good to praise the Lord and make music to your name, O Most High, proclaiming your love in the morning and your faithfulness at night.” Psalm 92:1, 2 NKJ

From Maristella:

“From the Lord comes deliverance.
May your blessing be on your people.”
Psalm 3:8

From Gloria:

“For the Lord is good and his love endures forever, his faithfulness continues through all generations.”
Psalm 100:5

From Happyone:

Psalm 23

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures.
He leadeth me beside the still waters.
He restoreth my soul:
He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil:
for thou art with me; Thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies:
Thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life:
And I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.

Thursday Bible Verse Challenge ~ The Psalms

It’s the first Thursday in June and we are continuing in our Bible Verse Challenge in The Psalms.

Leave your verse/verses in the comments and I’ll add them below. Thank you in advance for your contributions.

Psalm 33:20-22:

Our soul waits for the Lord; he is our help and our shield. For our heart is glad in him, because we trust in his holy name. Let your steadfast love, O Lord, be upon us, even as we hope in you.

From Vera:

“O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory above the heavens. Out of the mouth of babies and infants, you have established strength because of your foes, to still the enemy and the avenger. When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is man that you are mindful of him, and the son of man that you care for him? Yet you have made him a little lower than the heavenly beings and crowned him with glory and honor. You have given him dominion over the works of your hands; you have put all things under his feet, all sheep and oxen, and also the beasts of the field, the birds of the heavens, and the fish of the sea, whatever passes along the paths of the seas. O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!”
‭‭Psalm‬ ‭8:1-9‬ ‭ESV‬‬

From Maristella:

Because your love is better than life,
my lips will glorify you.
I will praise you as long as I live,
and in your name I will lift up my hands.
Psalm 63:3-4

Thursday Bible Verse Challenge ~ The Psalms

If it’s Thursday it must be time for our Bible Verse Challenge. We are still in the Psalms. Share your verse/verses in the comments and I’ll add them below.

I’m sharing from Psalm 19 again. These verses cover God’s Word, Effectual Revelation.

Psalm 19:7-11 (ESV)

The law of the Lord is perfect, reviving the soul; the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple; the precepts of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes; the fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever; the rules of the Lord are true, and righteous altogether. More to be desired are they than gold, even much fine gold; sweeter also than honey and the drippings of the honeycomb. Moreover, by them is your servant warned; in keeping them there is great reward.

From Vera:

“For it is you who light my lamp; the Lord my God lightens my darkness.”
‭‭Psalm‬ ‭18:28‬ ‭ESV‬‬

From Maristella:

Restore us, Lord God Almighty;
make your face shine on us,
that we may be saved.
Psalm 80:19

From HappyOne (Karen):

Psalm 100
1. Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye lands.
2. Serve the Lord with gladness: come before his presence with singing.
3. Know ye that the Lord he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.
4. Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him and bless is name.
5. For the Lord is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.

Thursday Bible Verse Challenge ~ The Psalms

Continuing in our Bible Verse Challenge for the months of May and June in The Psalms. Add your verse or portion from the Psalms and I’ll post it here.

This week I’m sharing from Psalm 19 (The Law of the Lord is Perfect). Psalm 19:1-6 addresses God’s Word, a general revelation. Next week I’ll share Psalm 19:7-11 which is God’s Word, Effectual Revelation.

Psalm 19:1-6

The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork. Day to day pours out speech, and night to night reveals knowledge. There is no speech, nor are there words, whose voice is not heard. Their voice goes out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. In them he has set a tent for the sun, which comes out like a bridegroom leaving his chamber, and, like a strong man, runts its course with joy. Its rising is from the end of the heavens, and its circuit to the end of them, and there is nothing hidden from it’s heat.

From Maristella:

” I wait for the Lord, my whole being waits,
and in his word I put my hope.”
Psalm 130:5

From Vera:

“I love the Lord, because he has heard my voice and my pleas for mercy. Because he inclined his ear to me, therefore I will call on him as long as I live.”
‭‭Psalm‬ ‭116:1-2‬ ‭ESV‬‬

From Patricia:

Psalms 96:1-6

Sing to the Lord a new song;
sing to the Lord, all the earth.
2 Sing to the Lord and praise his name;
every day tell how he saves us.
3 Tell the nations of his glory;
tell all peoples the miracles he does,

4 because the Lord is great; he should be praised at all times.
He should be honored more than all the gods,
5 because all the gods of the nations are only idols,
but the Lord made the heavens.
6 The Lord has glory and majesty;
he has power and beauty in his Temple.

From HappyOne (Karen)

Psalm 40:1-3 KJV
I waited patiently for the Lord; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry.
He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings.
And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the Lord.
