Garage Sale 2025

It was a long two days in the heat but we made it through with some good profits. Just before we closed the doors on Saturday afternoon we had some large last minute sales.

It was fun to watch these two engage with the public and sell their goods. People were very generous and they made $72.00 over the two days. We were only open for business from 8am until 3pm Friday and Saturday.

The conversation of the day was all about the heat and about the fires. It was fun to meet some neighbors we’d never meet without them stopping at the sale. With so much acreage between homes it’s not easy to meet. We recognized some employees from Wal-Mart.

When the sale was over on Saturday, Jamie’s mom volunteered to load the back of her pick-up with items that didn’t sell and that we didn’t want to hang onto anymore. That was so generous and we are thankful.

Our trees are helpful with the shade they provide.

What a blessing it was to be able to have the sale in the shop instead of everything being outside in the heat.

We are recuperating and it will take a couple days to get back to normal around here.

In other news…

Last Thursday morning while we were getting set up for the garage sale we had the fun treat of seeing a Doe with her two fawns. It is so cute to watch the fawns frolicking. I wasn’t quick enough to get a shot of them while they were on our property. If you look closely you can just make them out in the center of the photo.

Last Wednesday Addy had some dental work done and she was such a trooper. She got an ice cream treat after her procedure.

She was smiling before and still smiling after it was all done.

The fire that is closest to us, Hope Fire, is still not contained. Our community is doing their best to help with support for the fire fighters and with housing animals, etc.

This is an update from Sunday night:

A considerable amount of progress has been made on the Hope Fire. Crews worked diligently to strengthen the control line along the southwest and southeast flank of the fire. Other lines were improved or added, including completion of structural protections on Flagstaff Mountain. Aerial operations are being used to cool down hotspots. Total containment for the fire has been updated to 8%.

I am behind in visiting blogs and hope to catch-up when my brain recovers. Hope all is well with y’all.

  1. A garage sale in this heat must have been quite exhausting. Glad you had helpers. Hope the fire is out soon. We seem to have so many more these days. Hope you have a relaxing few days. B x

  2. I’m so glad that things went well for you and the garage/yard sale. What a blessing that you could have it in your shop rather than out in the heat.

Loved the little entrepreneurs and happy to hear that made a good profit as well. πŸ™‚

Glad that sweet Addy’s dental visit went well. She’s a trooper…glad she got a treat afterwards.

Thanks, too, for the update on how the Hope Fire is doing. It’s still a matter of prayer for me.

Rest up after your busy weekend.

  3. Wow that was quite a large garage sale. How nice that you got to have it in the shop. Glad it went well.

I know what you mean about watching the fawns frolicking. That is the perfect word for it. πŸ™‚

  4. I think all of you are troopers for enduring the heat those two days. (Have I mentioned how I don’t do well with the heat and humidity? Oh! That many times?! ~ sheepish grin ~ ) I’m glad your profits made it worth your while! Addy and JJ are such darling business owners. No wonder they had such successful sales!

Still praying that the fires are controlled! Rest up . . . I’m sure you need it after all that prep and then those hours in the heat! Whew!

I read all comments and appreciate them.
