Last Friday we got up with the birds and tackled the Rotary Trail. Started our walk at 5:30 A.M.
This was something new on the trail path. Different languages on each side of the post saying May Peace Prevail on Earth. Nice sentiment but, with all the ungodliness, unrighteousness, lying and suppressing of the truth going on these days, I can’t see that happening anytime soon.
We have finally scheduled walking again in anticipation of another trip across the pond. We will be flying in and out of Dublin this time with a hopper flight to England, too. We are going with our oldest and youngest and their spouses. While in England we will stay to the North visiting York and the more of Yorkshire. From Yorkshire we will head to Liverpool for the Liverpool v. West Ham game before hopping back to Dublin. Our youngest and hubby are staying in Ireland for the full time we are on the trip. They have a 6 day tour and then will be on their own until we all fly home from Dublin. This trip will be in September.
Any suggestions for which villages/towns to visit in Yorkshire?

I bet you are excited about your travels and well done on the walking it looks beautiful. I’m sure you will enjoy York. If you get a chance Whitby is fascinating as are the dales. B x
Thanks for the tips, Barbara.
…have a great trip.
Hello,
Pretty scene and view of the trail. I wish my hubby would be awake at 5:30, I enjoy early morning walks. Your trip sounds exciting. Take care, enjoy your day and the week ahead!
I agree with Barbara, Whitby and the Yorkshire Dales are worth a trip, not forgetting the train from Whitby to Goathland on the North Yorks Moors Railway. If you get to East Witton village in Wensleydale say hello from me. I am slightly biased as my mother was from the village and I visited it yet again a couple of weeks ago, but staying in Leyburn. So many wonderful places to visit in Yorkshire and often not enough time to visit them all. Enjoy your trip.
Gillian, thanks for stopping by and making these recommendations. I appreciate it! We love to travel to Great Britain.
How exciting! Enjoy your walks preparing you for your trip.
OMG my husband is a fanatic Liverpool FC follower. He will be beside himself with envy. Lots to see I UK . Yorkshire is lovely.
Angharad, Our son makes it a requirement to go to at least one futbol match when he travels to Great Britain. He wanted to add the Anfield stadium experience this time around which we are all excited about. Thanks for leaving your comment! Cheers!
I can suggest some in Cornwall!!!
Hi Barbara, we are staying to the North this time around. We did enjoy our time in Cornwall in 2013! Hope all is well.
Happy Trails!
You’ll love both places. We took walking vacations there.
Walked Coast to Coast in England and the Ring of Kerry in Ireland.
You walk earlier than me, I start around 6:30.
Karen, good to hear. While we are in Dublin we are taking a day tour to the Ring of Kerry!
What a fun trip to look forward to Ellen. And practicing walking is a great idea. (I could have used some practice on cobblestones recently!). … There’s a peace pole like that in a park we enjoy in Fort Myers — I look on it with optimism feeling like it’s a sign I’m not alone.
Harrogate?
Thanks Sheila, It looks like our route from York to Grassington includes Harrogate. Any stand out spots you enjoy in Harrogate?
Harrogate is a very elegant town, a spa like Bath. There is a famous tearoom called Bettys (and another one in York) and lots of green space.
That first photo looks like a painting! I admire your way of preparing for your trip!
Oh, that is plenty of reason to get up early (early!)and walk! I know that you all are eagerly awaiting this new adventure!
