Heavenly Sunlight ~ Hymn

Heavenly Sunlight

Walking in sunlight all of my journey;
Over the mountains, through the deep vale;
Jesus has said, I’ll never forsake thee,
Promise divine that never can fail.

Heavenly sunlight, heavenly sunlight,
Flooding my soul with glory divine:
Hallelujah, I am rejoicing,
Singing His praises, Jesus is mine.

Shadows around me, shadows above me,
Never conceal my Savior and guide;
He is the light, in Him is no darkness;
Ever I’m walking close to His side.

In the bright sunlight, ever rejoicing,
Pressing my way to mansions above;
Singing His praises gladly I’m walking,
Walking in sunlight, sunlight of love.

Words: Henry J. Zelley, 1899.

I remember singing this song as Heavenly Sunshine not Sunlight.

  1. This hymn brought such a wonderful memory for me, Ellen, I can just see my grandmother sitting in her chair singing this beautiful hymn as well as many others, but this was a favorite of hers. Thank you for sharing, have a blessed day,

  2. Yes I remember singing it was a chorus in Sunday school.
    “Heavenly sunshine, heavenly sunshine
    flooding my soul with glory divine.
    Heavenly sunshine, heavenly sunshine
    Hallelujah, Jesus is mine”
    Thank you for sharing the original.
