Our church is in a quandary. The pastor and a few others are pushing us into contemporary music worship and the old guard are pushing back. I say it’s not worship of any sort when the “music/worship leader” goes off on her own tangent, leaving the rest of us to stand like idiots wondering what we’re supposed to do now that we’re not singing together. She has a lovely voice and let’s us hear it as much as possible.
You would be correct in surmising I’m old guard, old school and think there is no replacing the old hymns. My compromise is a mix of traditional and contemporary but, apparently, God isn’t able to bring into young people unless we offer a rock concert. One man actually said, “God can’t drive a parked car; it’s time to move the car away from the curb.”
I wonder if he told God?
…enjoy this special day.
I love the old hymns

Another one of those great old hymns. I’m so glad that my church still sings these old hymns.
One of my all time favourite hymns!

Sorry Ellen. In my tangent I neglected to proof read.
ahem.
Sandra, sorry for the quandary. A compromise would certainly be better then eliminating the great hymns of faith. Ugh…
