Rhododendrons are the Washington State flower. We have five bushes in our yard. I’m linking up with ABC Wednesday started by Denise Nesbitt and maintained by the ABC Team! Thank you!
Four of the five rhododendron bushes we have came with our home and are well established.
This year because of our warm April weather everything is blooming early.
The bees are really enjoying the blooms!
My rhodies are mostly in the pink hues but rhodies come in many more colors, too. These last two photos are from the Meerkerk Rhododendron Garden on Whidbey Island.
Purple and white and yellow and red, oh my. I do have a new little yellow rhody bush but it chose not to bloom this year. These last photos are from the Meerkerk Rhododendron garden on Whidbey Island.
Thanks so much for all the sympathy and advice on my tooth extraction and implant. My extraction did not happen on Monday but will be happening for sure on Wednesday morning. My sweet daughter is going with me to hold my hand. I’m suppose to take it easy after my extraction so I’ll have time to visit your blogs and who knows how weird my comments might be if I’m on pain medication!
How goes it in your corner of the world?
If this is your garden, I envy you! I love Rhododendrons .! Are they already in bloom?
Have a great time!
Wil, ABCW
All but the last two photos are from my yard. They are already in bloom. They were a little early this year because of our very warm April.
Love the pink cascade of your rhodies, Ellen. Such a cheery color against all that brilliant spring green.
Mine will be blooming soon, and I can’t wait for their beauty to unfold.
What a treat. LOTS of pretty flowers!

Your Rhodys are spectacular! Soooo pretty! Good luck with your tooth!
Your Rhodys are gorgeous! Hope the extraction and recovery goes well.
Simply sorgeous, – the spring has been kind to all these early blooming plants!
Hi Ellen, Your rhododendrons are beautiful!! That deep pink color is definitely my favorite. The rhodies have been beautiful here in N.C. this spring and are blooming prolifically. We’re talking about planting at least one in our new natural area in the front yard. I’ve seen several different colors around here — pink, red, white, pale purple or lavender, and a golden yellow (almost orange) colored bloom. They grow to be quite large, too.
Thanks for sharing, Ellen. I didn’t realize the rhododendron is the Washington state flower. 🙂 Good luck with your tooth extraction on Wednesday; I’ll be thinking about you!
Big hugs,
Denise
Beautiful rhodos…my azalea is blooming. Will be thinking of you tomorrow!
Oh these rhododendrons are just loud and proud. I love them. So showy and makes Spring simply delightful with their presence.
My ABC WEDNESDAY
Gorgeous!
Rhododendrons are beautiful and your photographs do them justice!! Your yard must be a cheerful place to be right now.
Thanks for the heads-up. If I see any “interesting” comments from you out there in Blogland, I’ll know what is happening. 🙂 Praying that all goes well tomorrow!
Beautiful! One day I would love to visit Whidbey Island, especially this time of year!
I’ll be thinking of you tomorrow ….. hope it goes well!!!
Rhododendrons are beautiful. I didn’t know they were your state flower. Ours have already finished blooming. They don’t last long enough, do they? Thank you for sharing your beautiful post!
Beautiful, mine is not yet blooming

Love visiting gardens when the rhodies and azealias are out. Such a range of colours. We were at Scotney Castle last year (see ‘Barbie Man’) and the scent was amazing. Sadly, one of our own seems to be struggling a little at the moment – everyone else’s grow like weeds!
Your flowers are beautiful!
‘R’ may be for rhodo’s which are most beautiful at this time of year. But ‘r’ is also for ‘recovery’…the mode you likely find yourself in right now. Hope the extraction is over nd went well!
Beautiful!
These are so so beautiful…I love the pink ones the best, I think…..seems you do, too. 🙂 xoxo
what a collection, my school has 2, and girls like to play with them.
Hello Ellen, such delightful pictures and pretty colours too,
Thank you for sharing your beautiful shrubs with us.
Best wishes,
Di,
ABCW team.
they sure are gorgeous!
Gorgeous Rhodies. The shot of the garden from Whidbey Island is stunning.
wonderful Ellen…..a delight for the eye ….. for a minute, enjoy….and not thinking about the work afterwords if all the peddles have fallen down to the ground 😉
Beautiful and so dainty. I don’t recall knowing that they come in yellow too!
