Later than Usual…

This year our patio covers and our patio furniture got a later than usual start. Our covers usually go up sometime around Mother’s Day and the furniture is in place in time for Memorial Day. Well this year the covers went up Memorial Day weekend and the furniture finally made it’s debut on June 12th! And as per usual the rains came shortly after we had the furniture in place. I say that with a smile on my face not as a complaint. I enjoy the natural watering system around here just so long as the sun comes out again tomorrow!

What are you looking forward to this weekend?

My niece and her husband of one year arrive in Seattle on Saturday and we will be enjoying along with my sister and her husband and our son Josh and dil Laura showing them some Seattle/Washington hot spots and eating meals and watching some sports together. Maybe we can even have one of those meals on this deck. My niece is a high school math teacher and she is also a track coach and a marathoner. She has participated in the Boston Marathon. Her husband works behind the scenes at the Staples Center in L.A. and he’s a huge L.A. Kings fan so we are hoping for him that the King’s win the Stanley cup tonight! Of course I’ll be fitting in all the World Cup Soccer I can.

Before I head to the family room to watch the Mexico/Cameroon game here’s where we are at in that bathroom demolition…

About Ellen am a wife, mother, baba (grandmother) and a loyal friend. Jesus is my King and my hope is in my future with Him.

  1. Ellen, what a lovely home you have! I love, love this deck and cover; it looks like such a shady, relaxing place to spend hours outside this summer. What are the pink and white flowers in the pot (first and fourth pictures)? They’re so pretty and I don’t think I’ve seen that type of flower before.

We’ll be visiting both of our families this weekend for Father’s Day. Our son will be here, too. I hope you all have a great weekend and enjoy your family being in town.

  2. Your deck looks like a great place to spend much time this summer. Your potted plants really add to the look – beautiful flowers here and there. Enjoy the soccer watching. I’m keeping an eye on the scores but not watching the games. Have a great weekend.

  3. What a great place for entertaining! Yes, the rains came in overnight…but at least I don’t have to water the gardens today! ;D

  4. Your deck is a lovely, inviting space! Love the shade! (We are still looking at shade options for our patio…so I am taking notes.) 🙂

As far as running later than usual…I wonder how I am running so late myself. I anticipated more time when we began our summer break from homeschooling. Instead, I feel like I am treading water! Oh well, we’re having fun anyway.

You’re making progress on that bathroom. Can’t wait to see the finished project. (Although I’m sure you’re more eager than I!)

  5. Your deck looks so inviting. You must live out there during the summer months. It sounds like you have a great weekend planned. Enjoy it! And good luck with the bathroom reno!

  6. Progress! My deck isn’t set up either and the way things are going it may not be this summer. Yours is looking fabulous! A great area to entertain!

  7. As I write, the game between NY and LA is in over times. The TV has been on all day, with soccer and now hockey. I sure would like a nice BBC costume drama!

  8. We’re watching the O.T. hockey game right now too – nail biter for sure!!! Your deck looks so inviting and cheerful Ellen – what a great place to spend time outdoors. Hoping to head to Niagara-On-The-Lake tomorrow for a wine tasting tour and dinner out for our 41st anniversary. Hope the weather holds – it’s quite cool this evening.

  9. Your deck space is fabulous! Good meals, good company, good times setting for sure. Bring it on summertime! Our son is redoing his guest bathroom after a flood destroyed it. New tile, vanity + sink, walls, paint and toilet. All this with 12 days to go from new baby and in-laws coming for a month. No pressure!
