Valentine Favorites

Happy Valentine’s Day everyone! It’s time for Friday’s Fave Five with Susanne at Living to Tell the Story. Here are my favorites from this past week.

1. A surprise snowfall last Sunday. Glad it all washed away on Monday. Sorry for those of you that really wish snow was in your past right now.

feb snow day 0272. A safe trip back and forth to Canada on Tuesday to enjoy a nice lunch with some of the Mennonite Girls and a tour of Matthew’s House in Abbotsford.

2014-02-11 Matthews house23. Meeting some dear friends for dinner on Thursday at our local haunt. So good to see them and talk to them. I didn’t take a photo boohoo.

4. A beautiful bunch of tulips from Costco that we’ve enjoyed all week. They are similar to these that were growing in Mount Vernon last April.

5. A no pressure Valentine’s Day plan. I bought steaks for Dear to barbecue and we’ll bake some potatoes and have salad. No fighting the crowds.

This is the start of a long weekend here in the states and for some of you in Canada. We celebrate President’s Day on Monday. Hope you all have a great one!

  1. You bet I wish it was in the past! In 6 more weeks it will be though! šŸ™‚
Beautiful shots! Happy Val to you and yours! Another snow storm on the way.
Hope to get out the middle of the week, it’s been a looong Feb. so far!

  2. I’m so sorry that we missed the snow…not enough for me.
But it was so nice to enjoy our day together at Matthews House. It’s fun to share these events with a purpose and see the end result.
I’ll be at home tonight watching the Olmpics and probably making steaks. I loved your idea.

  3. We have five more snow “events” in the next seven days. I know that I will be completely snow weary by then. We are having a quiet evening in, too. I’m looking forward to it!

  4. You’ve had a week chock full of goodness. I like your plans for tonight, and they are a lot like ours. We’ll barbecue ribs and our daughter, SIL and granddaughter will join us and my parents. I’ve made a heart-shaped cake – keeping it small and simple.

  5. You’ve had a busy and wonderful week. I like your low-key plans for this special weekend! We stayed in tonight too and had a simple farmer’s sausage dinner and watched the Olympics. This is our (Ontario’s) Family Day weekend so Monday is a holiday – yay! Looking forward to some predicted warmer temps – all the way up to 0 degrees Celcius – WoW!!! Really hoping the abundance of snow melts slowly – eek!

  6. What a treat fresh flowers are esp tulips. It is even more special when a memory or two comes along with them. I can’t decide which colour (of tulip) is my fave, but these pink ones rates up there as best.

How lovely that your week had special time with friends and then of course with your hubby. These special times do increase our bond with one another, don’t you think.

    Have a blessed week, Ellen.

  7. It was so nice to see you again and get together for lunch and the tour. Sounds like you had our kind of Valentines. Home with good food and no crowds.

  8. Tulips. I must pick some up! They always make me happy. Love the bird on the snowy tree. We’re in the midst of a chinook right now, crazy winds but it has pretty much melted most of the snow and taken us out of the bitter cold into above 0 weather. Enjoy good friends and good food is always a great part of a week. I’m so jealous that you get to bbq at this time of year.

  9. I love seeing the photos of the girls from Mennonite Girls Can Cook.
Snow is fun to look at for a short period of time. I’m glad yours is all gone now.
    Lovely tulips!

  10. I chuckled at your snow comment. We got another round of sleet and icy rain last night and this morning. So school is canceled AGAIN for the little one. šŸ™‚

Loved reading about your Valentine’s Favorites.
