The Heron…

Because of the rain and wind here in Chicago I don’t have photos to share today from Chicago but here are some shots of the Heron we enjoyed at the Riverside National Cemetery last Saturday.

When we arrived in Chicago yesterday we had one of those weird taxi experiences in getting to the hotel.  There were 5 car fresheners in the back seat with us but that really didn’t help. The good news is that we made it to our downtown hotel and after we got settled into our nice room that doesn’t need air fresheners we had a lovely meal with some great friends from Seattle who are living in a suburb north of Chicago.

Friday morning we are going to choose an indoor venue to explore while we wait for the rain to move on.

Happy June to you all!

  1. Five air fresheners?! Gag. Chicago really isn’t the armpit of the nation, so I hope the rest of your time in the great Midwest leaves you with much better scents and great memories!

  2. hope you have a great time in chicago. i hope to go there one day. we probably won’t see a heron here at the beach…but there are plenty of seagulls and egrets!

  3. What a way to start your Chicago adventure…with a horrid taxi ride! But how nice to catch up with old friends. Have a great day…and hold on to your hat! (Is it really windy?)

  4. Ah yes – the windy city (though apparently it means something totally different than the actual wind). We are getting that wind and rain here in Southwestern Ontario as well. Enjoy your time there inspite of the weather……….love love Chicago!!!

  5. Stately bird!! The taxi must have been quite bad….I had that in NY. I wondered what in the world had happened in it, too. Take some herbal spray next time! :))

  6. We get a lot of herons in our area – in the creek near the house, on the roof, ducking under fences and doing acrobats on a swinging wire. They are a lot of fun to watch.
Something that’s surprised and delighted us these past 2 weeks is a gorgeous male ring necked pheasant strutting outside our office window. He’s gorgeous too. Hope he has a mate close by.

I read all comments and appreciate them.
