Just in time for the letter I we got snow and here in Seattle we measure snow in inches! I’m linking up with Jenny our fearless teacher for Alphabe-Thursday.

Here on our hill we got a total of probably 6-8 inches.

Snow is always big big news in the Seattle area. So far this system hasn’t taken out our power so it’s nice to sit inside where it’s cozy and warm and enjoy our new white world. Igloo creating has been the theme in the neighborhood. Snow is very inconvenient in Seattle because of our very steep hills and streets that go up and down the hills. You would never describe the state of Washington as being flat. They are talking about wind coming in so I hope we continue to keep our power.
Our daughter and her husband are headed to Salt Lake City with the car loaded as full as they could pack it. They are going to take it slow and easy stopping along the way if they have to. From Salt Lake City they have to travel all the way to North Carolina. We of course are praying for traveling mercies along their way. I decided to post the photos I took this morning as the kids headed out with an update on our snow pack.

There she is with my snow boots. She was happy that we can wear the same size. She was also happy to have her husbands down coat. Andrew will be putting those chains on and taking them off a few times on this trip. He’ll be a pro by the time they get to Salt Lake City.

We wonder how many hours it will be for them to make it to Eastern Washington over Snoqualmie Pass.

I think in inches we are now at the 8 inch mark.
Keep us posted Ellen. It sounds like you are in for a big dump! It’s blowing here and a blizzard!
Will be praying for your K and A as they travel.
…and I will join you in prayer for traveling mercies. Oh now that’s quite a lot of inches. I think you can start describing it in half a foot terms. ;>
I have just prayed that you can keep your power as well. Cold and no power is no fun.
I’ll join you in those traveling mercy prayers for them. The snow is lovely though. I’ve been receiving photos from my relatives up there too.
Ellen B, I watched the news last night and it said that Washington is being hit by the worst storm in decades. I hope you all safe and I’ll pray that your power stays on. It is beautiful tho.
Prayers for Katie and Andrew too!!!!
Love, cori g.
Your photos are poetic…
Lovely photos Ellen – your back patio is so pretty.
Praying for Katie and Andrew as they travel.
Such pretty pictures. Certainly pray they have a safe journey!
You have more snow that we do here in Michigan this year! Looks like the children going to have fun.
So I drive to Seattle quite a bit from Park City and it typically takes me about 12 hours in good weather. I am about 30 minutes out of Salt Lake City, so 13 hours or so? Anyway that storm that hit you is now slamming us! We are supposed to have 3 or 4 feet of snow before it is all over…
We need the snow and the water so no one here is complaining, well not much anyway!
Love your snow photos!
xxoo,
RMW
Lovely photos. Growing up in Illinois, I remember the bitter cold and the blowing snow drifts. I live in Chandler, AZ, (just outside of Phoenix) and the temp. is 61 right now! Hopefully your rough weather won’t last long.
It’s very pretty. For sure you have more than we do right now. I like a little snow this time of year because it covers so much drab landscape.
Here in Victoria the snow has stopped falling, but the wind is blowing and it’s Cold! We have about 6 inches, maybe, but it really depends on one’s location in the area. I think it’s so pretty outside – snow is a rarity, so I’m enjoying it. It won’t last long at all.
Great pictures – hope they have a safe journey too.
Fox News just reported that Seattle hasn’t had this much snow in thirty years. Hope you took time to make a snow angel!
Traveling mercies for Katie and Andrew. How nice that you could be together!
I can understand inches and really detest the metric system that was forced on us in Canada.
We must have got @ 6 inches ourselves overnight and the driving was rather treacherous.
Hope your family travels safely.
Judith
It’s so beautiful! I hope they have a safe trip.
I will remember those two tonight in my prayers. I hope that by now they’ve stopped over somewhere safe!
We’re pretty much snowed in on the Island, depending where one lives.
I miss snow and would love to have the opportunity to shovel snow one more time before I’m too old. That snow looks beautiful. We don’t usually get snow here either. If we do it’s just flurries although Christmas Eve 2004 we got a nice covering, but it quickly melted the next day. Are they moving to NC? I wish them a safe journey.
Great photos, Ellen, but brrrrr! It’s been in the 70’s this week in Tucson!
I’m glad for you that you love the snow 🙂 Praying with you for safe travels.
You guys got totally dumped on in the NW. We’ve been waiting and waiting for snow and finally got it this evening. We went to Salt Lake for dinner with some friends and it was mostly just raining, but by the time we got home (an hour northeast of SLC) we had 15″ on our driveway… hope their trip goes smoothly.
Looks so pretty but sure is a hassle for travel! Saying a prayer for their travels too.
Hope everyone travels safely!
=)
I heard about your snow! Please keep it thete! We had so much last year i couldnt take another year of that! We got our first dusting today.
Hope the kids arrive safely!
Ellen,
We are expecting some snow tonight and tomorrow. I hope by the time Katie and Andrew head back to NC, everything would have cleared up for them. Will pray for safe journey for them.
How neat! But treacherous! That makes for some scary driving for sure!
That looks like the best snowball throwing kind of snow, too! Hope you had a chance to hit a few people (gently, of course!) with some of the bounty!
Thanks for an interesting but chilly post for the letter I this week.
A+
I heard about your snow on the weather channel, and am glad you enjoyed it.
