Saturday Fun…

Nothing deep to share just these beautiful roses we picked up at Trader Joe’s yesterday for $4.99. Why walk away without buying them? And…

…have you ever seen a Brussels sprouts Stalk? It was $2.99 at Trader Joe’s. I just had to buy it. Of course Dear and I enjoy Brussels sprouts more than most people do. It’s another one of those tastes I’ve acquired in my adult years. So I think these are on the menu for today along with some Lamb Shanks and mashed potatoes.

  1. Thought id say hello while passing your blog by, and i hope you folks have a very nice weekend. We are maybe a little past fall peek colors for taking pictures of our tree’s here in central Pennsylvania, but ill try anyway to go out one last time to snap some images. 2. Love the product placement in that last photo! It’s perfect!! No, I haven’t seen a brussel sprout stalk, we don’t love them the way that you and your hubby do, though I do think it’s a very attractive vegetable on its stalk. And those roses! To have walked away from all that beauty would just have been wrong. Glad that they are sitting on your table looking beautiful.

  3. I’ve rarely seen brussels sprouts on the stalk, but it would be nice to find them that fresh. We love them, especially roasted. Wish I had a Trader Joe’s within reasonable driving distance. I’ve heard such good things about that store. Have a good weekend, Ellen.

  4. I love pretty roses. i noticed brussels sprouts on the stalk at Trader Joe’s the other day and thought to myself…so that is how they grow. I don’t even know if I like them. Could try them sometime I guess.

  5. Aren’t Brussels sprouts in their natural form such funny looking veggies? But I love the way they look, and I also love to eat them! I usually just cut them in half, steam them, and toss with a tiny bit of butter and sprinkle with lemon pepper.

  6. Don’t even talk to me about Trader Joe’s!!!! The best stuff, best prices, healthy done right! Their Cab Sav is amazing as is the price for it! Do not get me started!!! I am sooooo jealous that you live near one!!!! I want Trader Joe’s in Canada!!!!

  7. They have the sp routs like that at the farm stand. I don’t think I like them, but I should give it another try to see if my taste has changed.
The roses are beautiful. Mine are still blooming as we haven’t had a frost yet.
Have a blessed Sunday! I think of you every time we use the smoker! šŸ™‚

  8. Traders Joe’s – I’m another Canadian who wishes we had one up here! I’d have bought the roses and the sprouts – I always get a kick out of buying them that way!

  9. When I saw the stalk of brussel sprouts, I had to tell this story. We used to live in an area with very poor soil, so I planted brussel sprout seeds in six large pots. I had never grown them before. The stalks grew tall with lot’s of large green leaves. At the top of each plant within the leaves there was a small brussel sprout. I picked all six of them, which provided 2 sprouts for each member of our family. I cooked them and we ate them and we all said, Wow, they are good, wish there were more! The next week I noticed some weeds growing in the pot and decided to pull them out and noticed there were at least a dozen sprouts on each stalk hidden by the large leaves! So now every time our family eats brussel sprouts we laugh!

I read all comments and appreciate them.
