Yesterday at the Seattle Sounders Soccer game there were these little flags placed in every cupholder in the stadium. From the 9th minute of the game until the 11th minute of the game everyone in the stadium raised their flag in tribute to all the lives lost 10 years ago today. A chant started around the stadium U-S-A, U-S-A. It was a moving tribute. When the game was over I was surprised at how many of the little flags were just left behind. Our son Josh and I picked up about 100 of them. This morning I placed them on our fence along with pleated fans. Our flag is also flying at half staff. It’s true that all of us who were alive that day will never forget the images we saw.
A Psalm of David. Psalm 23 (ESV)
The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He makes me lie down in green pastures.
He leads me beside still waters.
He restores my soul.
He leads me in paths of righteousness
for hisname’s sake.
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil,
for you are with me;
your rod and your staff,
they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me
in the presence of my enemies;
you anoint my head with oil;
my cup overflows.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
all the days of my life,
and I shall dwell in the house of the LORD
forever.
I’m linking up today with Mary at Little Red House for Mosaic Monday.
FYI: There are some of your blogger blogs where I am unable to comment. When I try it sends me to a page that says that I’m denied access to your blog. If in the near past you had comments from me on your blog but all of a sudden I’m absent…this is why.
I’m having the same difficulty with posting 😦
You’re right that we will never forget and we will always be changed by that day.
I have gotten a comment from you recently…so not sure if you are having problems with mine or not. Love the mosaic. That was cool that the flags were given out at the game, but sad that many did not take them home. I love what you did with them!

Every time I look out my window at my flag today, my heart is stirred. Love your row of flags!
I know I will never forget, images are just burned into my mind from 9/11/2001.
Lovely post and tribute.
None who saw the horror of that day will forget and the history books will be sure to remind our childrens children. Your pictures are beautiful!
I’m sure the families that lost loved ones that day are happy that we remember and still pay tribute to them. One of the ladies at our bank here in Canada lost her husband who was there on business.
Has been a day of remembering, reflections. It has touched so many lives.
The 23rd Psalm is my favorite. It puts everything in order and calms every fear.
I had that problem for awhile with blogger, then it stopped. Also, if I tell it to ‘remember’ my sign in…that happens.
What a beautiful gesture you made with the flags. I’m sure it touched everyone who passed your house.
Lovely tribute and yes we will never forget that day. V
Lovely tribute.
Perfect psalm for the remembrance. I have that problem with the access too. You aren’t the only one.
It’s been a weekend of remembering…at church services and sporting events…in your country and ours. No…we will never forget.
This is a beautiful mosaic for what we remembered this weekend. And yes they are never forgotten. They are always in our prayers as well as their families. ^_^ It’s a tragic loss felt by everyone. Great photos and thanks for sharing!
Mosaic Monday
What a beautiful tribute, Ellen! Thanks so much for sharing your talent at MM. 🙂
