The U.S. A. is headed into their long Independence Day Weekend and Canada is in full swing of their Canada Day celebrations. Happy Canada Day to all my friends across the line. Enjoy your camping and grilling! I’ll post more about the 4th of July on Monday.
Now the time is right to look back on the past week and list my favorites to join in with Susanne at Living to Tell the Story for Friday’s Fave Five.
1. Spending a day away with Dear this past Saturday.
2. Spending Sunday with Josh and Laura enjoying brunch, the Sounder’s game, and dinner out.
3. Changing some things around in the Living room for a fresh look.
4. With all my shows in re-runs or off the air, I’ve been enjoying reading in the evening. I’ve finished a couple of books this week and am in the middle of two others.
5. My collage up top shows some of my plants in containers on the deck that are finally starting to show their colors. I’m looking forward to getting the patio furniture down and out on the patio this weekend. Can’t believe the weather has not been good enough to do it sooner.
We are having a 4th of July get together with friends on Monday. Dear will be smoking a Boston Butt for pulled pork sandwiches. My company will be contributing dishes. We haven’t decided on everything we’ll serve yet but coleslaw and baked beans will be part of the menu for sure. My red, white and blue decor is out and our flags will be flying.
What are your plans for the long weekend?
Photobucket replaced all my photos with blurred out versions and photobucket stamped versions. They are holding my photos hostage until I pay them lots of money. I’m slowly going through all my posts and trying to clean them up and replacing some photos. Such a bother.
Have a grand celebration, Ellen! Up here we’ll be staying quietly by the ponds, but we might go down to the shore to watch the fireworks, depending on the weather.
LOVE your flowers. And what a grand idea to move things around. I’ve heard decorators talk about moving accent pieces from room to room to spice life up. I even have furniture mover pads to slide furniture around. My family just moans when I start talking about moving stuff. I’ll tell them they can send their thanks to you. (c: We’re heading past the 100 degree mark today. The girls will be home and I think we might do a lot of sleeping….life has been FULL and we’re all a bit worn down. But they want to do some cooking to fill their freezer so we’ll get that in somewhere. We’ll party with family on Monday and then go sit on a friends front lawn overlooking town to watch the fireworks around the area. Have a great weekend Ellen!
A very Happy 4th Ellen!!! Your menu sounds yummy! I’ll have to get the pulled pork recipe from you. Hope you get some sunshine and warmth. We’ve finally had a turn in our weather. It feels like summer!
Nice week and then a holiday ! We have to wait until July 21, national day in Belgium.
No plans for the weekend, except loading my new GPS, lol ! I have to drive around.
Glad you got to enjoy time with loved ones this past week! :o) What books have you been reading in the evenings? (I love getting ideas for new reading material)
Mia, I’ve read mostly entertaining fiction. Laura Child’s and her Tea Shop Mysteries and Jan Karon’s latest book in the Father Tim series. Now I’m almost finished with the first book in the Percy Jackson series by Rick Riordan. I’m also reading The Art of Forgiving by Lewis B. Smedes.
Happy 4th to you, too! Enjoy all the food and friends.
The paito flowers looks healthy and happy–maybe they are the only ones around who like the cooler weather.
Ellen, Your flowers look so pretty. Sounds like you have a great 4th planned. We are looking forward to family here for our 4th too. Have a wonderful weekend. laurie
Cool picture collage! We will just be hanging out at home doing some work around here. We will be leaving for vacation on the 10th…so there are things that need to be done before we are gone for a week. May get Hubby to throw a couple of steaks on the grill! 🙂 We are having a special patriotic service at church with a BBQ chicken dinner afterward. So, that will be a nice time of fellowship…. we are looking forward to that!
Your last weekend sounds lovely!
I love changing things around and coming up with a pleasing new look.
We watch a couple of new summer programs, but otherwise it has been kind of nice to have the TV off in the evenings.
Happy 4th to you!
Your 4th menu sounds delicious! We have some BBQ’s planned for the weekend as well. Love your plants, I hope to post pics of my potted plants soon as well.
I hope your get together went well today – Your patio flowers certainly looked their best for the occasion!
I love to changing our rooms a little bit every now and then. It’s therapeutic for me to push furniture around!
I’m sorry to be so late making my FFF rounds – better late than never though!

Sounds like you will be having a wonderful celebration. My Canada Day was spent driving 7 hours to see my girl.
Love those spikey little blue flowers in your pictures. So pretty.
