FFF ~ Celebrating, Good News, and Sunshine

It’s time to look back over this last week and share your favorites. Visit Susanne at Living to Tell the Story to join in.

~

1. Having a good time celebrating our son’s birthday on Saturday and then celebrating a day off with my sister Lana on Monday. Lana and I made our traditional trip to Goodwill on a holiday. It is our tradition, too, that the person who spends the most at Goodwill has to buy lunch. She won again. I bought some exercise pants, a table runner originally from Pier One, a book on the back roads of South Carolina, and some fabric that I’m considering making napkins with.

We stopped at a restaurant in Bellevue, Wa. called Brief Encounter. They have great food and their potato pancakes are my favorite.

2. Good news. The best news. My father called to let us know that my 86 year old aunt decided to make peace with God by facing her sinful condition and accepting what Christ did for us on the cross. She is finally at peace and says she’s ready to go and be with Jesus. Remember the Billy Graham Crusades and singing Just As I Am? These are a couple stanzas from the song…

Just as I am, thou wilt receive,
Wilt welcome, pardon, cleanse, relieve;
Because thy promise I believe,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come.

Just a I am; thy love unknown
Has broken every barrier down;
Now to be thine, yea, thine alone,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come.

3. Reading and studying. I’m reading a couple books right now, a fun entertaining mystery and a heavier book by Philip Yancey. I’m also continuing in a woman’s Bible study in Philippians. Have you ever read these two passages (Philippians 2:5-11 & Isaiah 14:12-15) and considered the contrast in attitudes?

4. Sunshine in the middle of the week. A full day of sunshine that made me grab my camera and head to Lake Washington to get a good dose of vitamin D.

5. Seeing a new kind of duck that I don’t think I’ve seen before…on that sunny day.

~

Thanks to one of my MGCC girlfriends Bev,  I now know this is a  male Bufflehead Duck.

Thanks for stopping by. I’ll be around later today and tomorrow to check out your favorites.
Photobucket replaced all my photos with ugly black and grey boxes and they are holding my photos hostage until I pay them lots of money. I’m slowly going through all my posts and trying to clean them up and replacing some photos. Such a bother.

  1. Wow — #2 made my heart smile. That is the best news, indeed.

We’re not that far into Isaiah, but I’m looking forward to connecting the two passages you listed.

    Enjoy the sunshine, Ellen.

  2. WOO HOO!!!!! \o/ \o/ \o/ \o/ REJOICING with you over your Aunt’s choice to receive LOVE….so cool. I’m a little jealous over your Goodwill….glory what you can find. I looked up the two sets of verses….this is going to take some pondering.

  3. Hi…Did you say you have Sunshine? Bring it on over….
It was so good to hear about your aunt receiving her final blessing into the Kingdom. Your father has been a real example and now you are watching your children share that same legacy…
Enjoy the sun…I think our’s is coming tomorrow…I’ve planned a walk already and now need to fill up that big cookie jar.

  4. Wow, what a wonderful week! Especially your aunt’s receiving Christ! I so pray that for my folks as well.

Love the Goodwill tradition! We have one here, but it is a little ways out — but near a pizza place I like, so I ought to make a field trip to those two next week.

I have never seen a duck like that! God is so creative!

Sunshine this week has done me a world of good, too.

  5. The very best of news – so glad for your aunt and your whole family!

I think I must be coming round- the food is beginning to look good to me 🙂

Wish I could join you two on a Goodwill trip!

  6. Several FFF birthdays this week. Happy birthday to your son and sister. What a duck! That’s very unique. The restaurant name is interesting. Sometimes the reason I try a restaurant is because I’m curious about why it’s called what it’s called 🙂 That’s a wonderful sunshine day.

  7. Love the great news and with the angels I rejoice that another person has repented and given their life to the Lord. What a gracious God! — Love the duck photo on the lake with all the shadows. Life is good1

  8. Coming to peace with the Lord.
Food, friends, celebrations and oh the potato cakes good ones.
Love your bright photos in the week. I’m also excited for the MCC and their great news.
    Have another one next week
