I love fresh flowers. They always stand out and brighten a room. They don’t have to be expensive, either. I’ve been eyeing the daffodils that are showing up at Trader Joe’s and other grocery stores this week. I will put off getting a bunch until I arrive in Seattle for a 10 day visit next week. I dare you not to smile when you see a bunch of daffodils!
Daffodils
by William Wordsworth
I wander’d lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o’er vales and hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host of golden daffodils;
Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.
Continuous as the stars that shine
And twinkle on the Milky Way,
They stretch’d in never-ending line
Along the margin of a bay:
Ten thousand saw I at a glance,
Tossing their heads in sprightly dance.
The waves beside them danced, but they
Outdid the sparkling waves in glee:
A poet could not but be gay,
In such a jocund company:
I gazed — and gazed — but little thought
What wealth the show to me had brought:
For oft, when on my couch I lie
In vacant or in pensive mood,
They flash upon that inward eye
Which is the bliss of solitude;
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils.
Have a great weekend everyone.
Photobucket is holding all my photos that I stored on their site from 2007-2015 hostage replacing them with ugly grey and black boxes and asking for a large ransom to retrieve them. It is a slow process to go through all my posts deleting the ugly boxes.
Flowers are one of the little joys of life!
Have you ever read Dorothy Wordsworth’s journal of their time at Dove Cottage?

Beautiful flowers, and beautiful poetry. laurie
Fresh flowers and clean sheets on a bed every day would be my fantasy!
There’s nothing comparable to fresh flowers…. they are just so special!
My very favorite “indulgence”. If I could, I would have fresh flowers in every room, every day! Lovely post!

A lovely post. Daffodils and pansies to me are the flowers that look the most like they’re looking back at you, like they have sweet faces.

Daffodils! Such cheerful, smiling flowers! I love them! Love that Wordsworth poem too!
Oh sweetie… I adore this post. Beauty in the garden is beauty indeed. It is God at work with the paint brush. He creates the most beautiful shapes, colors and scents in the world. Each bloom awakes with such happiness to greet our world, and even tho they are here but just a short while, the happiness they bring to us alone in that short while, brings it back full circle the next time again.
To me a daffodil is a smiley face with petals around it. Such a petal flower, my goodness the name alone makes you smile with happiness.
Thank you for sharing the beautiful pictures of beauty today. I love the fuschia pinks you chose also. Beautiful the way the one little petal, as a tear, that has fallen to the countertop, just waiting to be wiped away.
Have a beautiful Friday sweetie. I adore this post. Country hugs…Sherry
lovely post. What is not to love about Daffodils and cut flowers.
This is one of my faves… both poet and poem. I visited the Dove Cottage and the Lake District years ago. Your post brings back fond memories…
I love daffodils!
Nice post.
Enjoy the weekend.
Love those red alstroemerias, too!
