Bless This Hour of Prayer
Come in our midst, O gracious Lord,
Unveil Thy smiling face,
Distil in every waiting heart,
The dew of heavenly grace;
From earthly scenes we turn aside,
On Thee we cast our care;
We worship in Thy holy Name;
O! bless this hour of prayer.
Come in our midst, O gracious Lord,
Thy promise we believe,
That bids us seek and we shall find,
Ask and we shall receive;
We gather at Thy mercy seat,
Our only hope is there,
We plead the merits of Thy blood;
O! bless this hour of prayer.
Come in our midst, O gracious Lord,
Eternal King of kings,
And fold the children of the law
Beneath Thy mighty wings;
Support the weak, the mourner cheer,
Help all their cross to bear;
Thou Spring of joy, Thou Source of life,
O! bless this hour of prayer.
Words by Fanny Crosby
Great words in this hymn. I don’t know the tune, so I made one up to sing it to myself. Since it is a Fanny Crosby song, I’m sure the tune is in a song/hymn book somewhere.
Fanny Crosby had to have been one of the greatest hymn writers or her time…our time too!!!
I hope you have a very blessed Sunday Ellen B.
Are the fires affecting you over there? Jimmy just read on the internet that all of Pasadena, Altadena, Glendale and a few others are having mandatory evacuations. I know your not close, but your closer then me.
God bless,
Cori G.
We’re just getting the overcast, smokey skies. We are far from the actual fires probably about 35 minutes by freeway…
Hi Ellen B., I’m a pain in the tukus aren’t I? I need to start subscribing to the comments. Anyway, we can’t smell them here, but yesterday I was in Whittier all day and as I left in the evening I could smell them as if they were chasing me down the road.
I’m staying indoors to. A good day to get some sewing done.
Stay cool!
xoxo Cori G.
PS, I’ll hit the reply button from now on 😉
I am definitely a Fanny Crosby fan and I really the hope and comfort conveyed in this one!
Here is another of one of the wonderful treasures that God gave us through Fanny Crosby.
