In 1973 when I was in England I began a collection of Beatrix Potter Figurines and purchased a full set of her sweet little books for children. There are 23 books in the full set. Whenever I see a Beatrix Potter book at a thrift store in good shape I buy it. I found these 23 books at Goodwill for 79 cents each and I bought all 23 of them. They are in perfect shape and look as though they have never been read. A full set of Beatrix Potter books for under $20.00.
Table linens are another weakness of mine and I didn’t walk away from this either. I’ll have to see what occasion comes up for a table setting on this cloth.
Looking forward to see lots of Thrifty Treasures. See you soon and thanks for visiting…
Photobucket is holding all my photos that I stored on their site from 2007-2015 hostage replacing them with ugly grey and black boxes and asking for a large ransom to retrieve them. It is a slow process to go through all my posts deleting the ugly boxes.
Good deal on the books, especially like the tablecloth!
Oh, I love that blue cloth…it will be fun to see what you can do with it….it is so busy…wondering how you will display it’s beauty yet set a table that doesn’t overwhelm the eye…looking forward to that…you pull things together so well
It’s kind of a shame that someone didn’t read those books to their child, over and over again, but what a great deal for you! And I hope you find an occasion to use that tablecloth, although everyday use sounds good to me, because it’s gorgeous!
What a wonderful bargain on those books, Ellen!
I love the tablecloth. I’m always looking for table linens.
Great finds – especially the books.

You made out like a bandit, Ellen! WOW! I just happened to hop over to see if you were posting for Blue Monday. These wonderful pieces could actually work for both! Love them. If that cloth goes missing, you won’t have far to look. ๐

Both of those finds are perfect for you! What a lucky lady!
Very nice tablecloth and great buy on the books
What a terrific buy on the Beatrix Potter books. You also found a beautiful blue tablecloth. I never see linens at our local GW stores.

What lovely treasures those are, Ellen. Do you happen to take wish lists from bloggers and shop for them at thrift stores?! ๐
I cannot believe the deal on the Beatrix Potter books! Someone did know what they were giving away! I’m with Ivoryspring–maybe we should just give you our lists and let you do the shopping ๐
Way to go with the Beatrix Potter books! Little ones love them – especially the size – perfect for little hands.
Love the colours in the tablecloths too. I always check that section when I’m in the thrift store.
That pasiley tablecoloth is beautifull..can’t wait to see your tablescape using it.
I recently picked up a Beatrix Potter storybook to read to the grands.
Great finds with the books! I know those are very collectible. Love the tablecloth too.
Oh Ellen, I do understand about tablecloths. I have been wanting a couple of new ones for a long time. I love a nice table.
those children’s books are precious!
That table cloth would make a lovely skirt Ellen B. Just fold it in half, tie it in a knot at your hip and Viola! An instant skirt or beach wrap plus you don’t alter it in any way so you could still use it as a table cloth. Multipurpose…that would make it about 3.50 for the two functions.
The fabric and pattern are beautiful!!!

Love the books, what an awesome find and the linens so pretty! I just seen the neatest set of beatrix dishes on craigslist the other day for under $20 and now I am hoping they will still be there, these sweet little books make me regret not getting them! Love those books!
The books are precious, but I dearly love the table cloth. Gorgeous, indeed. I’d be tempted to make a skirt with it.
