Welcome to Ruby Tuesday where you’ll see a little or a lot of red. Make sure and visit our gracious hostess Mary at The Work of the Poet to see more Ruby or to join in the fun. My Ruby this week is from Los Olivos in the Santa Ynez Valley known for it’s ranches and wineries.
I took these photos in a sculpture garden in the middle of town. (I think eclectic is a good description)
Los Olivos is noted for its eclectic art galleries, wine tasting, unique shopping, epicurean restaurant opportunities, antiques and generally friendly populace.
Many of the downtown and residential buildings date back one-hundred years when Los Olivos was served by a stage line and the Pacific Coast Railway. Our historical ambiance is preserved by a Victorian architectural overlay.
This cafe was closed the day we were there. I love how the sign says “Shut” instead of closed.
To see more Ruby head over to the Work of the Poet.
Photobucket is holding all my photos I stored with them from 2007-2015 hostage unless I pay them a lot of money. I’m slowly cleaning up many posts from this time period and deleting their ugly grey and black boxes with a ransom request. Such a time consuming bother.
The wine philosophy suits me just fine! Eclectic is the perfect descriptor, there seems to be a funky character just oozing out of this Main Street! Or is ‘charming’ better still??
I wonder if you visited this place on the way back from your Pismo Weekend? Funky charming place. 🙂 Just funning ya.
I think those sculptures are GREAT…my first thought was some kind of gas tank for the bodies. I love things like that…went on a garden tour in Kansas City last year and several of the larger homes had sculptures…a few like those…LOVE IT.
Ha ha ha! 😀 I love that “wine improves with age” sign. It’s SO True!

Love the sentiment on the sign!
Those are charming metal art creatures. I’d love having the one with chain braids in my garden.
Lovely post Ellen.
LOL! Love that sign. Also love the touches of red I see in the photos.

Los Olivos looks like a terrific place to visit. I absolutely LOVE the sculpture. It’s great!

LOVE the sign board. And yes, I’d say “eclectic” would be a nice word to use for the sculpture.
And we have a Side Street Cafe here too! Or had a place by that name at least. I wonder if the two ever wound up in a clash over naming rights? (It’s happened with other places I know of, and it can get ugly!)
Nice collection you have here!
Love the architecture of the house! My husband loves wine, so I’ve visited wineries with him.
Yeah, the sculptures look interesting. 🙂
I figure the sculptures work as scarecrow figurines?
Looks like a fun place to explore, with beautiful weather too.
What fun pictures! Looks like a fun place to visit too.
Very nice photos. I particularly like the sculpture with the garden shears.
My RT image is posted here. Please stop by if you get a chance.
Good morning Ellen B.,
Los Olivos…a town I’ve always wanted to visit. Was there plenty to do there? The wine sign is hilarious!
You mentioned Dear wanted a head. You could always get creative with one of the Styrofoam wig heads and paint it up. I have a friend that I do all my crafty stuff with and she and I are going to do a “Decorate your head” day. If you want to join us your welcome. I love how the English stack ALL their hats on one head.
I hope you have a fun day!

what a lovely place! the wine sign is great 😉
What a perfect sign!!! I love the red sculpture and the red accents in the rest of your photos. You have such a wonderful ‘eye’ with your camera.
Hugs and blessings,
What a great little town! And yes, the wine sign is exactly how I feel! Happy Ruby Tuesday, ellen! 🙂
The metal creatures are so funny. They welcome visitors.
I like the wine sign too. It’s so true …. for wine.
Happy Ruby Tuesday !
Wine and women get better with age, don’t you think.
The sculpture park was…interesting and very modern.
The building more to my liking, classic and traditional.
Guess I am getting old.

The sign is perfect. And I love the scrap sculpture. I used to live in Sonoma County CA and the dump/recycling site there sponsored an annual sculpture contest for many years called “Oh Rapture, It’s Scrapture!” There is no end to the amazing stuff to be created out of junk.
