The Inside View
Photobucket is holding all my photos from 2007-2015 hostage on their site and have replaced my photos with black and grey boxes of ugliness. I’m slowly deleting those boxes from my blog and trying to update so many posts, very frustrating.

The first time we ate at this Chinese restaurant we were shocked when we walked in and saw the decor of this place. You could never tell from the outside that the inside would look this way! We took my daughter and her boyfriend here last night and I took these photos. The inside shots aren’t real clear because I wasn’t using a flash and was trying to be inconspicuous…
It looks more Victorian then Chinese. Based on it’s cover I would have passed it by :).
That’s one elaborately decorated Chinese restaurant! Happy WW! 🙂
It isn’t even the “cover” but CHESTER’S? What a happy surprise once inside. How was the food?
Sadly we find the food here not to be spicey or seasoned enough for our taste…
That is too funny! The inside is so different than “cover” indeed!
There used to be (years ago) a place on the remote end of Sixth St. in Austin, TX called “Beans” that was similar to this. From the outside it looked like it could’ve been a converted auto shop — right down to the rusty Coca-Cola sign over the fron tdor. but step through the door and it reminded you of the part in the Wizard of Oz when they switch from B&W to color.
And the food! Sweet Mother!
Sadly, it went the way of oh so many others. I tried to find it the next time I was in Austin many years later and learned that it had shut down.

Sometimes it is sooo worth going in a restaurant to find not only great food but sheer beauty.

We always order Chinese take out. I have been dying to go to a place like this.
I have had surprises like that too, and they were mostly with Chinese restaurants. But in our case, the taste of the food matched the presentation.

While I might go in because of the cuisine, I would be totally surprised once I’m inside! There is quite a number of similar ones here in CA but not that “shocking”. Surprised myself by scrolling through your series very very slowly and I wasn’t disappointed!

I sure was surprised — especially with the name of “Chester” in front of Asia & Chinese! Hope the food is as great as the decor!
Wow is all I can see!!! And that floral arrangement in the middle of the room is simply to die for. Was the food presently just as elegantly?

Well, a dollar late and a couple of days short, I like your WW a whole lot. We have Bing’s Asian Bistro in a store front near us. We ate with friends there Monday evening, it was sooooo good!
For WW I have Beats sleeping under a bridge. 🙂
