5 More Days in Washington

My six weeks in Washington State are winding down. I’m here for 5 more days and then Dear and I hit the long road home to Southern California. My hydrangeas in Washington have reached their full bloom. My hydrangea plant in California is dead by now because Dear forgot to ask our neighbors to water our plants while we’ve been gone. Oops!

One thing that keeps us awake and makes the trip seem shorter from here to there are books on CD. I was so excited to find this at Goodwill and look forward to listening to hours of one of our all time favorites…

This week we’ll be getting in some last minute visits with friends and family here in the Seattle area. Maybe I’ll fit in one more trip to Goodwill. I hope all of you have a great week.

Photobucket is holding all my photos from 2007-2015 hostage on their site and have replaced my photos with black and grey boxes of ugliness. I’m slowly deleting those boxes from my blog and trying to update so many posts, very frustrating.

  1. You have some beautiful hydrangeas. I’m sorry you lost one. Mine get very wilted but so far are hanging in. Enjoy your books on CD and the rest of your time in Seattle.

  2. Good morning, Ellen! The hydangeas you have are so beautiful. That blue is simply vibrant!

I laughed when I saw your LOTR CD’s! Hubby has the Hobbits — and he would listen to one disc over and over and over again to make sure he didn’t miss ANYTHING before moving on to the next! Hahaha.

Enjoy the rest of your visit. I am so impressed that even though you are on “vacation” in WA, your blog never skip a beat!

    Blessings!

  3. Oh what a find!!! That should keep you wonderfully entertained!

This is my first year for hydrangeas – I bought 2 bushes for a new flower bed – they started off wonderfully but are looking a little droopy now. They are certainly not short of rain but I think there is some kind of critter eating the leaves. I’m going to return to the greenhouse and ask for some hydrangea tips.

I also want to turn them a lovely blue like yours – mine are pink – so I’ll have to get whatever it is you need to turn the soil acidic.

Here’s to lots of fun, family festivities for your last week.

  4. I would have run over and watered the hydrangea for you! I hope it’s not totally, irrevocably dead.

The ‘great story’ will keep you entertained. Be sure to read the attempt to cross the Caradhras Mountains while driving up Siskiyou Summit!

    Looking forward to your return!

  5. Hello Ellen B.,
I’ve been hiding out and away from my computer lately so I haven’t dropped by…it just seems wrong! I looks like you have plenty to keep you busy on the long drive back to S.Cal. I hope it’s a safe one.
If you pass through Pacific Grove there’s this wonderful little pastry shop on the right hand side of the street…excellent pastry!
I look forward to traveling posts.

I read all comments and appreciate them.
