Sky Watch ~ The Red Barn

We had some plain boring skies in Southern California this week so I threw in a red barn to give the sky some interest. This was taken at Camarillo Ranch in Camarillo, California.

I’ll be posting more of the photos of the Ranch House later. The Bell in the photo above is one of the El Camino Real (pronounced ree-al) Bells that commemorate and mark the “El Camino Real – The King’s Highway”  These markers are placed along the route and in front of each of the California Missions. The goal to place these bell markers began in 1906 and by 1913 450 bells had been placed.

For more Sky Watch head over to Wiggers World.

Photobucket is holding all my photos from 2007-2015 hostage and they have blacked them all out. I’m slowly working at restoring my posts without their help. Such a tiresome bother!

  1. Like the barn. When I was a kid I used to try to get my Granddaddy to paint his barn. He thought painting a barn was unecessary. I thought his barn should be red like the one in my farm book.

  2. Fantastic Barn.. and shows off the sky so well. I have become a barn mad blogger of late and always enjoy seeing and reading about them , so I’ll be back for more.

  3. That red barn reminds “Louis” of barns he’s seen in the midwest and upper-midwest, in particular in Wisconsin. “Louis” likes the contrast between the red of the barn and the crystalline blue of the sky. Excellent choice for “Sky Watch”.

  4. Love it—both the bkue sky and the red barn. I have a small bell marker with El Camino Real–The Kings Highway etched on it. It belonged to my parents and must be–I don’t know how old–my mother is 92. MB

  5. How can I look at the sky with that barn to look at? My husband wants to build a barn shaped like that one. It is a beauty. Okay, okay, the sky is pretty too.
