O the Deep, Deep Love of Jesus – Samuel Francis (1834 – 1925)
O the deep, deep love of Jesus
Vast, unmeasured, boundless, free!
Rolling as a mighty ocean
In its fullness over me.
Underneath me, all around me,
Is the current of His love
Leading onward leading homeward,
To Thy glorious rest above
O the deep, deep love of Jesus
Spread His praise from shore to shore.
How he loveth ever loveth
changeth never, nevermore.
How He watcheth o’er His loved ones,
Died to call them all His own;
How for them He intercedeth,
Watcheth o’er them from the throne!
O the deep, deep love of Jesus
Love of ev’ry, love the best!
‘Tis an ocean vast of blessing,
‘Tis a haven sweet of rest.
O the deep, deep love of Jesus
‘Tis a heav’n of heav’ns to me;
And it lifts me up to glory,
For it lifts me, Lord, to Thee!

This is one of my favorite hymns. The words are so rich and the minor key that it is written in takes me back to my Russian heritage.
thanks for posting this, Ellen. it was just the truth my heart needed this morning. praise Him!
I am singing it now. Oh the many Russian memories this song brings back!
You’ve hit on yet another hymn I love–for it’s rich theology and it’s musical character (maybe I’ve got some Russian roots somewhere!).
Connie,
That’s very possible you know, but even if you’re not we are happy to adopt you in!
A beautiful picture and one of my favourite hymns as well!
