May the Mind of Christ, My Savior
May the mind of Christ, my Savior,
Live in me from day to day,
By His love and power controlling
All I do and say.
May the Word of God dwell richly
In my heart from hour to hour,
So that all may see I triumph
Only through His power.
May the peace of God my Father
Rule my life in everything,
That I may be calm to comfort
Sick and sorrowing.
May the love of Jesus fill me
As the waters fill the sea;
Him exalting, self abasing,
This is victory.
May I run the race before me,
Strong and brave to face the foe,
Looking only unto Jesus
As I onward go.
May His beauty rest upon me,
As I seek the lost to win,
And may they forget the channel,
Seeing only Him.

“Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.” Philippians 2:5-8 (ESV)

…my best wishes to you for a sunny Sunday.
It is always such a joy for me to sing through the songs I know that you post.
I didn’t become acquainted with this hymn until I went to college. It always takes me back to a dormitory lounge where Intervarsity Christian Fellowship students were sitting on sofas and on the floor, singing out of a paperback hymnal that I think I still have a copy of. It doesn’t seem that any church was part of since ever sang it…
You have me wondering when it was that I first heard or sang this song. Blessings!
AMEN!!
So much of this hymn has been in the forefront of my life lately. I’ve been asking the Holy Spirit quite often lately to control my mind, to help me set my mind on things above. And my favorite verse is Ephesians 4:1 – ‘I Paul, a prisoner of the Lord, urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received.’ Not only did our pastor use it in his sermon today, but ‘may I run the race before me, strong and brave to face the foe’ reminds me of that verse.
Cindy, we need reminders to run the race, to go from head knowledge to obedience. Blessings!
Aren’t the words to this hymn so beautiful? I love this hymn!
Cheryl, yes, beautiful!
