There’s More Than One Way…

…to skin an apple!

I had a timely $10.00 coupon for Sur la Table and I made a quick stop there to see what I could see.

Here’s the beauty I bought to peel and core my apples. My justification for this gadget is the fact that our apple tree is not going to get chopped down and I’m going to have to deal with apples every year!

I have it under some great authority that once this gadget is ready to go the male in the family might not be able to resist the job of getting the apples ready. We’ll see what happens.

My mother is settled in at her Care facility and is doing better than yesterday. We all have to remember she had some major trauma inflicted on her body and she will not bounce back as quick as a young person would. She likes the food better at the facility than the hospital. The Care facility is on the same street as my parents apartment just 5 miles north. We are thankful for that and that it is easy for my dad to get back and forth.

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend.

  1. Yes! Just what I was hoping that you would have…that you had to go out to get it doesn’t matter a bit…it’s a worthy way to spend the coupon.

So glad that your mother is not too far for your dad to drive. Glad that the food is better there, too.

  2. I love those peelers. Glad to hear some good news about your mom. Praying God’s peace for them as they are temporarily separated…..healing and strength to her body!

  3. Good use of your coupon! I’ve peeled hundreds of apples with mine, and they work great.

Glad your mom had a better day and she’s within driving distance for your dad.

  4. Ha ha – love that comment about it being irresistible by the male in the house! Hope that works for you. Today is bushels upon bushels of corn for me – glad for my “gadget” mandolin (the farmer calls it a banjo and is able to resist just fine).
So glad to hear your mom is doing better and that it’s not far for your dad to travel to visit her. It’s so hard for them to be seperated – I remember that happening to my parents for a time until dad moved in with her at the nursing home.

  5. I have a peeler/slicer like that and I LOVE it! An apple pie is easy-peasy to make with this gadget. My parents bought one last year and my dad insists on doing the peeling/slicing now.

I hope your mom’s health continues to improve and I’m glad your dad will be close by.

I read all comments and appreciate them.
