…”Mongolia” could come to your own backyard. The Mongolian Grill guy and his sweet wife came to Marg and John’s lovely yard to prepare a fun meal for all of us.

The grill is the Mongolian Guys own creation and the men folk were very interested to see how it was put together. The grill surface is a saw blade re-purposed for cooking on. You push down on a pedal with your foot to turn the saw blade. Reminded me of a sewing machine pedal.

Rocks played a big role for our outdoor meal, too. Different sized and shaped rocks helped to identify whose bowl of goodies dumped on the grill belonged to who. That lovely pile beside the big rock was my meat and veggie choice. I’ll show you the choices of veggies and meat and sauces we had after I show you the other role the rocks played…

Thankfully on this warm evening there was a very nice breeze so the rocks were stationed strategically to hold down the table linens! The wind also kept some mosquitoes at bay.

Marg thought of everything in creating a wonderful atmosphere for our evening meal together.

Her “appy” table was filled with yummy spreads and salsas and Rainier cherries.

When the grill was hot and ready to go we got our instructions on filling our bowls with our choices of veggies, nuts, seeds, hard noodles, and raw meats. I chose celery, bean sprouts, baby corn, zucchini, water chestnuts, almonds, and beef.

Now it was time to pick the sauce…

I picked the lemon ginger soy and headed out to the grill.

I fought my way to the front and dumped my bowl of goodies on the grill.

The “Grill Guy” did the rest and it was cooked to perfection. You can see why I picked the large rock to identify my portion. There was no missing it for sure!
After the grill was shut down it was time to set the island for dessert!

“Many hands make light work”
Thank you Marg and John for an unforgettable evening.
More to come…
WOW! Marge really outdid herself with this magnificent feast! I would want to try everything. I never heard of a Mongolian feast before –it reminded me of Japanese saute at Benin Hanna’s..so delicious! Your summit looked like a another wonderful time, Ellen.
You fought your way to the front. That is funny! I can’t imagine you ever fighting…well…feisty maybe but not in a bad way.
I love your photos….I think somewhere along the ways I petered out. My camera held less photos than I had hoped.
Wow, I didn’t know that the Mongolian grill guys would travel anywhere–that’s awesome!
I don’t believe everything you’ve said here just for starters. ;>
Wow. I have never seen anything like that grill…what did he do to the edges because that seems like the biggest question I have right now. Ha!
Looks like an amazing time for all of you. You certainly do live up to your name even if “The Grill Guy” was doing all the cooking.
I didn’t notice you forcing your way to the front but I did notice that you were first in line when Marg said we could start filling our bowls. I’m thinking you were the hungriest of all of us and therefore had a legitimate right to the front of the line. It was a great meal and a great evening all around.
Great re-cap of a wonderful evening, Ellen. And having the Mongoli Grill guy cooking for the Mennonite Girls who don’t always like to cook…was just the best!
Wow, what a spread, and it looks like it was a fun time too.
Wow – I am so impressed (once again)!! Kathy’s decor was amazing, the food looked so lovely and what a great idea to have the Mongolian Grill Guy come right to the party!!!! So funny that you had to “push” yourself to the front of the line to get your food grilled ;). Looks like the weather co-operated for your party as well. Wondering if and when you will post about the desserts?????
That was fun… being there and reading this!
Wow, who knew? What a fantastic way to cook food outdoors. Love it!
Beautiful setting…beautiful food…beautiful people! A great combo! Looks like a lovely evening!
Love that amazing grill! Very ingenious. Your feast looks amazing, and I’m sure it tasted so too.
Wowwie – how absolutely fun is that!!!!
That grill is very interesting. I like the idea of combining your individual favorites. There were probably no two meals exactly alike.
