If Death My Friend and Me Divide ~ Hymn

If Death My Friend and Me Divide

If death my friend and me divide,
Thou dost not, Lord, my sorrow chide,
Or frown my tears to see;
Restrained from passionate excess,
Thou bidst me mourn in calm distress
For them that rest in Thee.

I feel a strong immortal hope,
Which bears my mournful spirit up
Beneath its mountain load;
Redeemed from death, and grief, and pain,
I soon shall find my friend again
Within the arms of God.

Pass a few fleeting moments more
And death the blessing shall restore
Which death has snatched away;
For me Thou wilt the summons send,
And give me back my parted friend
In that eternal day.

Words: Charles Wesley, 1762.

  1. I imagine you are thinking of sweet Kathy. She is resting at the hospital at this moment and and as far I know hasn’t gone “home” yet. We are trusting in the Lord’s perfect timing. Thank you for being such a wonderful friend to Kathy.

    • Yes, Jeanie. I’m with all of you in spirit as you go through this with Kathy. Sending prayers, love and hugs down south to all of you…

  2. The hymn tells the truth – that our loss today holds the promise of a joyous reunion in the future. I’m sorry for whatever you may be facing at this time, Ellen. xo

I read all comments and appreciate them.
