Send the Light
There’s a call comes ringing over the restless wave,
“Send the light! Send the light!”
There are souls to rescue there are souls to save,
Send the light! Send the light!
Refrain
Send the light, the blessèd Gospel light;
Let it shine from shore to shore!
Send the light, the blessèd Gospel light;
Let it shine forevermore!
We have heard the Macedonian call today,
“Send the light! Send the light!”
And a golden offering at the cross we lay,
Send the light! Send the light!
Refrain
Let us pray that grace may everywhere abound,
“Send the light! Send the light!”
And a Christlike spirit everywhere be found,
Send the light! Send the light!
Refrain
Let us not grow weary in the work of love,
“Send the light! Send the light!”
Let us gather jewels for a crown above,
Send the light! Send the light!
Refrain
Words by Chas. H. Gabriel
Amen! Beautiful hymn and picture, Ellen!
I didn’t think I remembered this one and then as I read the words the melody started again in my head. Send the light the bessed gospel light let it shine from shore to shore.
This is not a hymn I am familiar with…I’ll go listen to it and see!
Willow is on her way back home. We had a lovely time…didn’t do a lot but just enough.
I love this song..humming it now!
Good Morning Ellen B.,
I hope you’re finally rested up from our busy week :).
I’m not a person who follows the ideas of the name-it-and-claim-it group, but I think this morning I’ll claim the last refrain for myself:
Let us not grow weary in the work of love,
“Send the light! Send the light!”
Let us gather jewels for a crown above,
Send the light! Send the light!
Oh I guess it’s not a refrain is it?
Happy Sabbath Day!
xoxo Cori G.
