Chorus From ‘Atalanta’
For winter’s rains and ruins are over,
And all the season of snows and sins;
The days dividing lover and lover,
The light that loses, the night that wins;
And time remembered is grief forgotten,
And frosts are slain, and flowers begotten,
And in green underwood and cover
Blossom by blossom the spring begins.
~Algernon Charles Swinburne, 1837-1909
So Ellen…do you know what the top center flowers are? I can’t tell from this picture and I can’t enlarge it. They are all so beautiful. Spring is so good for the soul. Thanks for sharing.
The flowers are hellebores, or lenten roses. Aren’t they beautiful?
Yes, “blossom by blossom” and just think how very many blossoms are bursting forth all over the northern hemisphere right now to herald in the season of Spring. What a celebration of beauty and fragrance!
Amazing flowers. Mine are still under the snowy wetness….April Showers WILL bring May flowers, I’m convinced. For now, I’ll enjoy yours.
