How Deep the Father’s Love for Us ~
(written by Stuart Townend)
How deep the Father’s love for us,
How vast beyond all measure
That He should give His only Son
To make a wretch His treasure
How great the pain of searing loss,
The Father turns His face away
As wounds which mar the chosen One,
Bring many sons to glory
Behold the Man upon a cross,
My sin upon His shoulders
Ashamed I hear my mocking voice,
Call out among the scoffers
It was my sin that held Him there
Until it was accomplished
His dying breath has brought me life
I know that it is finished
I will not boast in anything
No gifts, no power, no wisdom
But I will boast in Jesus Christ
His death and resurrection
Why should I gain from His reward?
I cannot give an answer
But this I know with all my heart
His wounds have paid my ransom

Wow the picture is pretty telling:
Ashamed I hear my mocking voice,
Call out among the scoffers
Father, may this be my prayer:
But I will boast in Jesus Christ
His death and resurrection
Thanks for posting these moving lyrics…I couldn’t help but sing out the whole song. The very words in your posts can be so touching and grip your readers in the most unexpected moments while blog surfing…have you considered putting music on your Blog? Just a thought.
This is one of the favourites in our church. Along with “In Christ Alone”, I think this will be one of the surviving hymns from this generation.
This is one of my most favorite hymns to sing. I usually cry. I always raise my hands. It bonds us together… What a gift the Lord has given us!
I pray you had a blessed Lord’s Day!

Loooove this hymn!
My heart sings it!
This is an amazing song and I agree with all your comments. The reason I chose this song this week is because when Dear and I were listening to it earlier this week we talked about the impact it has on us and how it brings us to tears when we sing it or hear it…
And about the picture… I’m understanding more and more that until I see myself in that mocking crowd I do not understand how much I need this Saviour of ours. God bless you all dearly with eyes that see Him!
I agree with Island Sparrow’s comment – those are two of my favorites!
