This church is in Ventura, California. When we walked past a few years ago it was not being used as a church anymore. It has been operating as a Bed and Breakfast and Tea Room.
Southern Methodist Espiscopal Church ~ Designed in the Carpenter Gothic Style by Ventura architect FP.Ward, this church was built by Selwyn Shaw in 1888 on donated land. Notable features include Eastlake detailing stained glass windows, steeply pitched roof, 96 foot steeple, and delicate “gingerbread” along the roof edges. We had quite a wind storm blow through last night and some people are without power including our daughter and her husband. They live in an all electric building so that has made life interesting for them. Katie is spending the day with us while her hubby is at work since we have power.
Hi Ellen,

Many churches here in Maine are being used for other than their original intent.
A pretty church, lots of detail around the windows and doors.

a truly beautiful old church, and I have seen people live in them, but this is the first bed and breakfast. would love to see inside it… oh no on the power off, we live in all electric here and when power goes, we have nothing, no phone, no internet, not TV no anything.
This is a great looking church. I like all the close ups you took of interesting details on the church.
What a fantastic place for a tearoom! Lovely building!
What a nice church — kind of sad it is not used as a church anymore, but glad it is being preserved.
A beautiful church…love your great pictures.
I drive past that church on a weekly basis and am always ‘inspired’ by the architecture.
